  1. Get the damn bat off your shoulders Pedey
  2. That run was for all you McDime haters...
  3. Beckett's velocity is up. FB routinely at 94. So far so good...
  4. With Youkilis batting 9th?
  5. Gonzalez pops out weakly-again. Stiff.
  6. Youkilis doesn't make that play at third base.
  7. Cheer up. Our FO isn't smart enough to bring up Lavarnway to replace Shoppach (career: .227/.741), who is bound to regress to career norms soon. The good news is that you get to witness it happening!
  8. Tossup between Byrd and McDime. Byrd is at .271/.610 and McDime at .179/.634. Both are fetid. Can we discard both of them and bring up Kalish? He is nearly ready now and apparently doing well in his rehab.
  9. Alex Wilson represents "potential". When he succeeds at the ML level I will believe that he is ML ready. How many times did Michael Bowden get brought up after tearing it up at Pawtucket only to fail miserably in the ML? Besides, Alex Wilson has pitched a total of 55.1 innings at AAA level ball. This year his ERA is 3.93 with a WHIP of 1.485, hardly a dominant force. He is far from a sure thing. Don't get me wrong-I hope he excels. But he is hardly a seasoned ML ready pitcher right now.
  10. Slugging to Aug 1: .464 Slugging after that: .426 Thats not 100 points, its 38 points. What are YOU smoking?
  11. I understand that, but the premise is off IMO. I believe that OPS is the single most useful offensive statistic to measure how effective a player is. I realize thats open to differences of opinion, but regardless of where you place OPS, its certainly a very valuable statistic. The dropoff in OBP is also quite significant. Salty got tired through overuse last year. With catchers, it happens more than with probably any other position player. It happened to Varitek for the last 3-4 years of his tenure too. And it will probably happen to Saltalamacchia this year as well.
  12. Jarod Saltalamacchia OPS up to July 31: .790 Jarod Saltalamacchia OPS Aug 1 to end of season: .646 His production DID fall off a cliff at the end of the season. Thats a fact.
  13. Sure Emmz, but why don't you tell us how you really feel
  14. Double dose Emmz... Jete is from Sawxheads and although he is a Yankee fan he is widely respected as a class act. He would be welcome wherever he decides to post. If he stays you guys and gals will like him here as well.
  15. Another damn Yankee fan has found TalkSox. Welcome Jete. Hope to see more of you over here.
  16. HAHAHAHA So right Emmz. Catchers with an 800+OPS are a rare breed indeed. Lets see what his numbers look like at the end of the season. My guess is that his final 2012 OPS will be more like .740 or so. But for now, sure, lets just enjoy the ride.
  17. We really ought to be going after Garza or some other SP of high quality and not putting all our eggs in the DiceK basket. He could easily fail, as could Cook. Its going to be a dogfight in the ALE and we are going to need more high quality SP to compete.
  18. Reliever reliever reliever. Everyone here except Dojji can see that this experiment has been an abject and utter failure. Dojji is right about Bard perhaps being ruined as a reliever as well; our incompetent FO has seen to that. The difference is that he has a chance to be a good reliever again. As a starter....well, what's Craig Hanson doing nowadays?
  19. WHEN THE HELL IS SOMEONE IN THAT FRONT OFFICE GOING TO GROW A BRAIN AND SWING THAT TRADE FOR YOUKILIS? Not any time soon Fred. Our FO rightfully optioned Bard to AAA, but too late, and they failed to admit that he is a RP, not a SP. They are clearly in a fog. Youkilis MUST be traded while its still possible to pull the wool over the eyes of some of the GMs. Soon everyone will see that he is a figment of his former self and refuse to give us quality in return. Youkilis deserves a seat on the pine, as does ABUM Gonzalez, but our FO is too stupid to see it.
