    Well who didn’t see that coming?? FLOPS already losing. Game almost over already. What an awful team. At least the Celtics are playing….

    Yours in particular. Paredes has an excellent track record. Durbin has demonstrated a near total lack of the power this team needs.

    Paredes has a career OPS+ of 115. He has been an all star. He would be a vast improvement over the stiff we have playing 3B right now.

    I admitted he has done well so far, but the sample size is too small to make much of it. If it continues, great. If he reverts to what I think he is then he is just a late inning defensive replacement.

    Durbin is not a starter quality player. He's a bench player. Paredes was available for trade if the price was right. Breslow failed.

    None. It would cost much more-which is exactly my point.

    Right now he is doing very well. I am willing to wait and see what he does over the next 50 games or so. As I recall (without checking the numbers) he slumped badly as he got tired at the end of last year. I think this start is the proverbial "flash in the pan". I'd be glad to be proven wrong.

    There are only so many roster spots and allowing a stiff like IKF to take one of them was a mistake. There were far more talented players to be had this offseason, and we all know why we didn't get them: Henry is a cheapskate and Breslow isn't good enough.

    Let’s give him a reasonable amount of time to show his true colors-maybe 40-50 games or more. I think he is what he is at the plate and that it will eventually show up in his stats. If I’m wrong so much the better because this group of bums can use all the help they can get on offense.

    And he still had no plate discipline. I don’t care what his bwaaah was. You have to be able to hit the baseball.

    A very good all around player? His career OPS+ is 81-below average. Defensively he is good. But this team needs players who can hit the baseball. IKF won’t help. He belongs in the minors.

    He’s been out there quite a bit so far. I’d rather have a better player than IKF, who really should be in AAA ball to be called up only if a more talented player gets injured.

    There’s no reason they couldn’t have signed Suarez AND obtained a far more talented player or two instead of Durbin or IKF. Except of course that the owner is a cheapskate.

    Pretty disgusting team. About to lose a four game series at home against a very mediocre team.

    The point is that talent was out there either via FA or trade and we ended up with stiffs. That is one reason why we are in LAST PLACE. Our team OPS is .651, good for 14th in the AL. We are 25th in MLB in runs scored. We STINK. AGAIN. No one should be supporting this team by going to games or buying FLOPS products.

    We could have had both. I am sure one of them could have moved. Wasn't Contreras a catcher? Do we have a catcher that can hit the baseball as well as he can? Or we could have had Schwarber as our DH. There were alternatives besides signing the stiffs we ended up with. The results are predictable and visible in our record.

    He’s one of the few guys with talent on a team of bums. At least the Bruins and Celtics have good franchises. Because this one stinks.
