    Sale is truly pitching like a stiff this year. We needed him to dominate and he got hammered tonight. With pitching like this we are going nowhere.

    Johnson is on the IL. I haven't heard what is wrong with him or when he is coming back. Making Eovaldi is a desperation move and to me it indicates that Henry isn't going to spend money to get a decent closer or BP arm. I get why that is: Henry is watching this team underperform just like the rest of us. I don't think he wants to fund a sinking ship.

    I would put money on it sitting there. I can see quotes like "Its up to the guys on the field to do better"....they aren't spending any money for an impact pitcher.

    Not with guys like Porcello, ERod, and yes, even Sale pitching like stiffs. We don't have ANY pitching except Price. We aren't making the playoffs at all playing like this, let alone a deep run.

    Our only realistic hope is that someone knocks off the Yankees before they win the World Series. Go Dodgers!

    This is a very easy team to hate. Very few guys are really giving it their all this year. I refuse to believe that Betts, Martinez, Benintendi, Sale, Porcello, Barnes, ERod etc etc-including Cora-are not just resting on their laurels from last year. Its an embarrassment. They deserved to be boo'd for the rest of the year.

    I wouldn't expect any high profile RP to show up. And I can't really blame DD for the crappy performances of Betts, JD, and Sale. I think he is handcuffed by financial constraints by JH. Unless the current guys miraculously get it together I can't see us as a playoff team. The current roster, for the most part, is it.

    Yup. Only the Mets have more blown saves in all of MLB with 18. Had we just held on to half of them we would be in contention for first place instead of trailing the WC race to two three teams. If we do not get a reliable closer we will not be playing baseball in October. Take that to the bank.

    Barnes is no closer. Neither is Brasier. Nor Workman. We don't have a closer. And if we don't get someone who can reliably close out games in the ninth inning we will not make the playoffs. Pretty simple.

    For all the grief the pen has taken here they are actually FOURTH in ERA in the league. Our SP are SEVENTH in ERA. And offensively we are fifth in runs scored but fourth in OPS. Bottom line: with those kind of numbers we should have won many more games. And the talent is there to do much better. Right now we are on a pace to win just 88 games. Thats not going to get us into the playoffs. DD is going to have to make some moves.

    Hate to say it, but it looked like the way Klay Thompson landed in the NBA playoffs when he tore his ACL.
