  1. Time for everyone to hold their collective noses as Price goes out there and once again proves that he is the consummate choke artist. I hope I am wrong.
  2. Got it. The Astros should be favored. Their pitching is superior to ours. And until someone dethrones them they are the champions. If we can somehow hold serve in the first two games I like our chances.
  3. I do not bet much, but if I am reading the odds correctly the Sox are favored to win the series in Vegas. They are at anywhere from -110 to -125. I think the negative number means that in order to win $100 you would have to bet $110-$125. The Astros are at +105-+110. http://www.vegasinsider.com/mlb/odds/las-vegas/
  4. We will not get the "scaled back Sale". He had all his pitches working, including a 96mph FB, against the Yankees. He might get beat but I can't see him losing his fastball again. I think if he gets beat its because Verlander tosses a gem and our offense fails to support Sale.
  5. Yup-IMO its already been a great season. We won a record 108 games and eliminated the Yankees IN YANKEE STADIUM. Priceless are the moments that the Sox marched around your home turf celebrating winning the East then eliminating your team and sent them packing. Sure I hope we can finish the job and win a ring, but as everyone knows the odds of doing that are less than 50/50. Houston is a great team and there is no shame in losing to a great team. That series is a tossup IMO. In no way is this season a failure if we fail to win a ring. Its been a great year, one I am sure you enjoyed watching (especially the four game sweep of the Yankees in August) as much as most of us did.
  6. You can bet he will be even more motivated this year to do well. That is just human nature. If you fail at a task once you will try harder to do it correctly next time. Whether or not it will translate into success is another matter: Houston has a great team.
  7. It had a lot more to do with fatigue than motivation. That said, I am sure he knows what happened last year and will be resolute in making up for it. Call it motivation or whatever you like.
  8. According to Jacko its only over for this year. Next year the Yankees will be much better because they are going to go out and buy some good players and for that reason they will bury us. He says that we should enjoy this year (which of course most of us are) because we will soon fall off a cliff. Lets just see how that all works out. Hopefully it will work out just like this year.
  9. He might retire....I think he will. His knee is not going to get better and I think he is professional enough to know that he will only hurt the team going forward.
  10. Ummm....I remember that at the beginning of THIS year you claimed on this site that the Yankees were the prohibitive favorites to win the division. I am not going to look back and find your posts, but many of us responded with "lets play the games and see how it turns out". So when you say that your team will be "much better next year" I would simply respond with the same refrain: lets just play the games and see how it turns out. We were the better team all year this year, based on performance, and next year is a new year. We will see if the Yankees can compete with us.
  11. Not playing Holt over Nunez is dumb. Holt is on fire, not just his last game, but for a while now. You have to ride the hot hand.
  12. No. You cannot be Babe. I am Zorro................I mean Babe.
  13. I have never seen such a choke artist as David Price. Never.
  14. Four months
  15. I posted this before. Since June 1 Kelly has an ERA of 6.13 with an OPSa of .813. Long ball or not teams are scoring at will against him. Almost any other choice would have been better.
  16. Unless the pen improves it will be very unlikely to get the ring. We might get by the Yankees, but the Astros or Guardians will be tougher opponents.
  17. He does give up a lot of HRs
  18. I would have left Porcello in the game.
  19. If we see Kelly we will see a L
  20. How can we be losing and ahead by three runs?
  21. We will need more than five runs to win this game...probably more like 8.
  22. I would get Wright up
  23. No. Moreland isn't hitting now. This bullpen is horrible.....it will be a miracle if we get to Kimbrel with the lead.
  24. I hate Kelly on the roster. He has sucked for months.
  25. Cora says he is 100% sure Sale is healthy...until he isn't. As I have said here many times we are not owed the truth about the medical conditions of the players. It is possible that Sale is healthy; it is also possible that the Sox do not want to give a competitive edge to their opponents by revealing physical impediments to performance. When Sale comes out and is vintage Sale then I will believe he is 100% healthy. Trust.............but verify.
