I think some people here think that he has potential just because he is a Red Sox player. I don't see it, not yet. He has no idea of the strike zone and is pretty awful in the field. I hope he comes through, but so far there is no objective evidence of it.

His *potential* is very iffy...no evidence that he can really hit the ball yet, nor can he field.

If the other guys were not producing then the catcher OPS would be an issue. We can afford one black hole in the lineup, maybe even two. Everyone else is making up for what Leon is not doing with the bat.

Since May 10, in 35 appearances, -thats three months-Barnes has had an ERA under 2 with a BAA of .176. He has been consistently excellent. There is no cogent argument that can be made that he has not done everything asked of him this year. Perfect? No. No one is. But I would take those stats from any RP on my team.

Fair enough. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, keep in mind that Barnes has been excellent over the past 20 appearances. I don't think you can expect more than what he has done.

I assume thats tongue in cheek. You cannot argue with statistics.....you are not allowed to disbelieve them.

Since June 17 Barnes has had an ERA of 1.77 and an OPSa of .475 in 20 appearances. What more do you want from this guy?

Moreland's swing is painful to watch....he can't stop bailing out.
