  1. The Sox lack of SP in '12 was the heart of their problems and every time a SP comes of the market it is a little concerning. If the Sox don't improve their SP it will be another long season in the improving AL East.
  2. The baseball writers agreed with you because Miggy won the MVP.
  3. As much as '75,'86 and '03 hurt I rather go through that then '12. There was a lot of enjoyable moments in those three seasons because the Sox did a lot of winning. I rather go through another one of those seasons then another '12.
  4. I was just watching MLB Network and they were replaying the Cabrera interview after he was awarded the MVP. I guess I wasn't the only person who doesn't know what I'm talking about. All the name calling kind of takes from your argument. I have experienced when people start calling others names it is because they don't think they have an argument that is a winner.
  5. BC's words and actions have not been in line this of season, unless he has been in discussion with teams and FA setting up deals with both. I think the Nation has a fear of last off season and repeating that and then going through another 2012 season in 2013.
  6. If we are still writing the same things after the winter meetings then we have a major problem. Until then, hopefully we don't fall further behind division vivals.
  7. MVPs get their team to the playoffs. Cabrera got his team to the playoffs, and the last I checked the Angels did not make the playoffs. Since 1942 only four other guys have won the triple crown: Mr. Williams (twice), Mickey Mantle, Frank Robinson and Yaz. Pretty good company.
  8. BV doesn't know when to shut his mouth. At this pace we will all be swimming across rivers to get to the other side because Bobby will have burned every last bridge. Every time he opens his mouth nothing good comes out. He probably did get a raw deal in 2012, but if he has any plans of managing again (Don't see it) he has to shut up.
  9. Any future FA will avoid the Marlins and their verbal no-trade agreements. Both Reyes and Buerhle are not happy campers because of the sh_ _ that the Marlins pulled. An Stanton is pissed and will leave as soon as he can. As far as Hamilton and any possibility of the Sox showing interest in him, if they do it has to be a short years contract at big $$$$. If Hamilton sees that there is no long term contract out there he might take a 2 year 25 mil contract from the Sox. If it doesn't work and it blows up the experiment is over in two years and the kids will be ready by then. If it does work then they can approach Hamilton like they did Ortiz or just let him walk with the kids ready at that point. Hamilton would probably be at the stage in his career that he moves to DH at that point. That can only happen if there are no long term contracts out there for him.
  10. Anyone who wins the triple crown is the MVP in my book.
  11. I didn't want Melky and his baggage as well, but you hate to see division rivals improve while the Sox remain the last place team that finished 2012.
  12. Toronto signed Melky and look like they are going for it in 2013. I hope their is a Sox plan or it could a long 2013 with Sox finishing in last again. BC is saying all of the right things, but actions speak louder then words. I'm hoping the Sox make a splah at the winter meetings because I'm tried of seeing everyone else in the division improve themselves.
  13. Can anyone think of a ten year contract that a team didn't end up regreating the deal?
  14. If this trade happens then the Sox fall a little further behind a division rival. The Jays will be adding two quality arms to their rotation and an all-star SS. It just made the Sox job back to respectibility a lot harder. If all three are healthy the Jays just improved their team a lot.
  15. Napoli wants to be seen as a catcher first, and then seen as a DH-1B. Don't think the Sox need to bring in another catcher whose defense is questionable. Based on the SP struggle the last couple of seasons we need catching the game to be a strength.
  16. I think Valverde's value crashed because his collapse in the playoffs. It shouldn't be a surprise because his season had some rocky patches. I wouldn't touch him. I would take a chance on a healthy Soria on a one year deal. Thats what KC did with Broxton last season.
  17. Cubs need a catcher and could be a potential trading partner.
  18. I agree that the Ross signing is a positive. Quality backup catcher, and is a positive influence in the club house. Good character guy. Plus, now the Sox have another trading chip with the surplus of catchers. There are several teams in need of a catcher and could be potential trading partners for the Sox.
  19. The Ross signing allows the Sox to move a catcher for another piece (Salty most likely). There are a lot of teams in need of a catcher and now the Sox have a trading chip. Ross is a quality backup catcher and will be a positive influence in the club house.
  20. I think this contract is fair for Papi and it will allow him to retire in Boston. I think this is a deal the FO had to do. I think Papi is still a productive hitter and for PR purposes it is a positive move.
  21. Tori Hunter for two years at a reasonable amount could replace Ross in RF. He is good in the club house and has always hit well in Fenway. If the Sox are waiting for their kids to be ready Hunter could bridge the time. I have heard a lot in regards to Justin Upton, who I like as a player, but I think the asking price is going to be to high.
  22. Now that the Hot Stove season is underway things should get interesting. Sox are in need of starting pitching help. If a true number one is almost impossible to get then adding a quality middle of the order arm is a must. What does anyone think of Anibal Sanchez? He pitched pretty good in the playoffs and would be another quality arm without breaking the bank.
  23. We got to stop this Swisher thing, let it go. When the pressure of the playoffs are on he has never produced for the $pankees. His numbers are inflated by playing in Yankee Stadium and having the lineup around that he did. Just say NOOOOOOOO!
  24. Lovullo hire as bench coach is a positive. Has known Farrell for twenty years and is close to him and it seems that they have a good working relationship. Farrell has said the communication between him and Lovullo is good and if Lovullo disagrees with something that Farrell does he will voice his opinion. I think this is good because you don't want all yes men around you, and this is a positive for the Sox.
  25. Farrell gets the bench coach he wanted in Lovullo, so the communication should be 100% better then we saw last year. If the manager and the coaching staff is as big a story in 2013 as it was in 2012 then it will be another long summer. I think Rick Peterson is getting an interview for piching coach. He was with Baltimore last season and you see the improvement they had. You have heard a lot a different things about him and is methods over the years so I don't know where I stand on this yet. But having a coaching staff in place before Nov. 1 would be positive for the Sox.
