  1. Those names have been mentioned before when the Sox and Rangers have been talking about trades. I don't know if I'd do a straight up trade. It would have to involve more players to equalize the value.
  2. $pankees are looking old with a lot of $$$$ invested in players that were hurt or did not produce during the playoffs. The Daily News had several articles on this subject in today's paper. They have 12 players who played significant roles this season that are 35 or older. That is a major problem.
  3. We need to say NO to this Swisher thing. The guy can't hit in the clutch and his stats are helped out during the regular season by having so many bats around him and hitting at Yankee Stadium. Drew is staying with the A's, they just traded Pennigton away. Lind is a 1B-DH kind of a player, and he is not the player coming back to us. I love Youk to death, but that ship has sailed and his body is breaking down and he isn't the hitter the Sox need in the middle of the lineup. I do believe the FO has the resources to make us competitive next season, but do they have the smarts?
  4. FO must have some unwritten rule that any player the Sox get as compensation must have the last name of Carpenter. This is AAA player at best. Overall, the Sox don't give away any of their future and have a manager under contract for 2013. Just remember when Tito became the new manager before 2004 he had a losing record as manager with the Phillies.
  5. Also, if Adam Lind is the player coming back (managers can't get traded even up for a player) then that is an interesting player for the Sox. Even if the Sox don't plan on keeping him he becomes another trading chip. If true this move for Farrell can turn out positive. The Sox have a manager in place (one that seems to have the respect of the vets) before the end of October and didn't have to give away any parts of the future.
  6. With both the Sox and the Yanks having a lot of questions unanswered going into 2013 it should be a really interesting HOT STOVE this off season. The WS can't get over fast enough so the interesting off season can get started.
  7. Aviles wasn't too happy with his reduced playing time in September. Any thing short of him being the starting SS he wasn't going to be happy. Based on him not playing in September the Sox did not see him as their starting SS. An if I had to pick between Aviles (who wouldn't be happy with this) and Ciriaco as my backup infielder I would pick Ciriaco. Aviles was not part of the Sox future plans. So for him being the player going north for Farrell I have no problem with this. As far as Farrell I have no problem with him as the new manager because he already has positive relationships with many of the returning players and seems to have their respect. This was missing last year. I just didn't want to give up an important player for him. Which they didn't.
  8. If you are looking at contemporary success lets stick to the 21 century. 2000 and forward. Based on $pankee rule on success: anything short of a championship is a failure should be used as the measurering stick. With that said the Cardinals have a shot to move to the top of this list with a WS win this season. If they don't win then they are tied with who? Sox 2 titles and Cards 2 titles
  9. It seems like the Sox are really targeting Farrell. They must really think he is a huge step in correcting the pitching problems the Sox experienced in 2012. The Jays are going to ask for the moon, and the FO better not give up the moon. Especially, if that involves a top pitching prospect.
  10. If the Sox give up someone like Barnes for Farell sh_t will hit the fan. You think the Nation is pissed now after the FO put us through a summer of crap. FO would have to go in hiding. If the Jays say they want a Barnes I hope the Sox laugh and hang up the phone. For a team short on pitching we can't afford to give up one of the best young arms.
  11. Happy Yankee Elimination Day to Red Sox Nation!
  12. I hope everyone had a Happy Yankee Elimination Day! I enjoyed it. The air smelled a little better, the food tasted a little better, and the water tasted a little better knowing that the big bad Yankees were playing golf this morning.
  13. Just wishing everyone a happy Yankee Elimination Day!
  14. The real trophy is the one you get when you win the World Series. If you win the AL, but lose the WS that trophy becomes the second place trophy. No one is happy finishing second.
  15. I agree with you. If the Sox give up anything of value to get Farrell the FO is starting the rebuild the wrong way.
  16. You just made my point. The $pankees spent even more, and bought their way into the playoffs the last three years. If hating the $pankees makes me a moron then crown me and make me the king of the morons. The way the $panks didn't show up against the Tigers, and all of the problems the $pankees roster now has it is going to make the winter a little more enjoyable.
  17. I tried cleaning the kitchen floor, but I couldn't find the broom. Then I remembered that the Tigers had it and were using it on the $pankees. Boy do the $pankees look old and over paid. Its over, stick a fork in them the $pankees are done. An with that the baseball season comes to a close as I don't care who wins from here on out. How many days until pitchers and catchers?
  18. I thought that a season was a complete lose if the $pankees didn't win (buy) the championship. The we are in the ALCS means that by spending 192+ million we are guarenteed a playoff spot every year.
  19. He is the Rockies contract mistake. These long term contracts always blowup. I like Tulo, but too many $$$$ and years on this BAD contract so let this rumor die.
  20. When the pressure of the playoffs are on he has never done anything for the $pankees. Even A-Fraud had one productive playoffs for them. We will see what kind of a player he is next season. The $pankees aren't bringing him back, so he won't have the loaded lineup or $pankee Stadium to protect him. I wouldn't touch this guy.
  21. Tigers can't let this thing go back to NY. They need to kick the $panks when they are down. It would be nice to see them get a couple runs off of CC early. CC has to be going into the game thinking he has to be perfect because the O is not scoring a lot for him. That is a lot of pressure, plus if he stumbles the $panks are golfing tomorrow. GO TIGERS!
  22. He can't hit the baseball these days, so A-Fraud just looking to hit something. The guy has no character at all. As a Sox fan I find this piss my pants funny. All season the $pankee writers destroyed the Sox and called them team turmoil. Now they can use the same stories and just cross out Red Sox and replace it with $pankees. A-Fraud is a clown and is done. At least Manny being Manny still produced on the field and was a vital part of both Sox championships.
  23. Lin is one of those good D and no hit prospects. He is no more then a late inning defensive replacement and does not warrent a roster spot in Boston. It just the Sox clearing a spot on the 40 man roster.
  24. Stop with the Swisher thing. He is a product of $pankee Stadium and his stats are inflated. Plus when the playoffs roll around he is a no show.
  25. Young is better suited as a DH. His outfield D is sketchy! If Sox resign Ortiz they have no need for Young. He has also had some problems off the field and the Sox don't need that.
