    The Sox have a lot of bull pen arms and need to set their 40 man roster so I can see them moving some. Don't know if they will get much back, but if packaged with a catcher they might be able to fill one of their holes. There will be some action in the next week in regards to this. Rumors continue that they have interest in other bullpen arms so some of the current arms will be moved.

    I agree that Lester is a guarentee innings eater for the Sox. If the Sox trade Lester then 2013 is a total bridge year, and a total rebuild with youth is underway. I can't see them trading from a weakness of SP and still be competitive in 2013. SP continues to be their biggest hole. Hopefully, BC starts to fill some of the holes next week in Nashville.

    Bring back Jorge to catch, and for the open OF spot they can bring Bernie Williams back (He hasn't officially retired yet).

    15 million a season for B.J. Upton. I can't see what the Braves see with this guy.

    Just say no to the Swish! Don't need his lame act in Boston. You read every where that he can play 1B and the OF, but he is below average with the glove at both positions. He is a streaky hitter that disappears when the games are big (Look at his playoff stats).

    Longoria is the face of the Rays and this is something their FO felt they had to do for their fans. I always got the feeling that Longoria liked playing in Tampa and wanted to stay there.

    On a one year contract I would take him over Swisher any day. If you can get him for one year at big $$$$ he fills RF for 2013, and by that time the kids will be ready.

    Not sold on Swisher, plus he is asking for a lot more then C Ross and is he that much of an improvement? No!

    Lester is a lefty, home grown, and still young with a lot of bullets left in his arm. I'm not moving him unless its in a package to Seattle for King Felix. We have been complaining that the Sox have no starting pitching and we are going to trade one of the few we have. Besides the name that the KC media brought up was Wil Myers. He is a corner outfielder with power and at best an average fielder. Not someone you trade a proven starting pitcher for.

    The Sox have no starters right now that don't have questions about how they will produce in 2013. Both Lester and Buchholtz are not consistent, Doubront is young and his innings have to be watched, and who knows about Lackey. That is why SP scares the crap out of me. We don't know what we are going to get.

    Both the Ross and Gomes signings are short term and set up platoons at two positions because neither is a full time player, and if used that way their production will suffer. Ross is by far the best catcher calling a game and throwing out runners that is on the roster. Gomes is platoon OF who hits lefties. Both are good in the clubhouse and have short contracts that won't stand in the way of youth coming up through the system.

    We are talking about top of the rotation pitchers. The $panks go CC, Kuroda and Pettite at the top of the rotation. Nova hit the wall at the end of last season and I don't think the Yanks know what they will get from him. Hughes is probably their number 4 at this point and has enjoyed some success. Joba and Robertson are relief pitchers, and Phelps may get a shot at number 5 if the $panks have injuries. I think Hughes is the closest they have come to recently having a young STARTER come up through the system. Otherwise they have gone outside the organization for established starters.

    I agree that the Sox need an ace that will pitch 200+ innings and will consistenly pitch late into games. We don't currently have one and its why the current staff as is probably the weakest in the AL East.

    Gomes has a personality that would have fit into the 2004 Sox club house. The Sox had some success with that and need some good character guys that seem to be well liked by their teammates. Gomes is a platoon player and he knows he is.

    I know the Jays had a ton of injuries with their starters last year and it maybe hard to gage Farrell's use of the pen. You would think as a former pitcher this would be something he has more success with.

    The hot stove rumors all always flying around. There are things that agents leak to the media if they think it may help their client. I have learned not to believe all of these things floating around and just wait until multiple sources report that player X has signed. Maybe Napoli does want to play in Boston and is using this to get a fourth year, or maybe he does have interest in Seattle. I think we will have a better idea in two weeks after the winter meetings.

    I do think that we have to get more innings from the starters because it is a drain on the bullpen to pitch as much as they do. We also need to have the key arms in the pen pitch up to their abilities. The arms are there in the pen if not over used to have some success. The starting rotation still has holes in it and needs to be strengthened. What was Farrell track record in using the pen in Toronro?

    First Base is a power position, but a solid glove is also important at 1B. Napoli is a power hitter that can play first, but he is below average with the glove and that is why he didn't play more there with the Rangers. I'm just saying you don't want to over pay ($$$ and years) for someone that really doesn't have a strong defensive position and may be a better DH. Ortiz is kind of locked into that position for the next two years.

    Napoli at 3 years is where I would draw the line. If he choices Seattle and the 4th year they seem to be offering just move on. I not 100% sold on him as the Sox every day 1B. A strong glove at first base can save a lot of runs over the coarse of a season and I'm not sure if he is the answer.

    Next to Greike, Sanchez is the best option from the pitching FA. Pitchers that have done well in the NL, but struggle with inter-league play I worry about. The AL East is a beast for starting pitchers. The teams face themselves so much there isn't anything that hitters don't know about pitchers.

    Can't see why they would recycle a manager that they canned not to long ago. Especially, after the investment they just made with their team.

    The $pankees never have to rely on young pitchers because they can and always do go out and buy experienced pitching. Kuroda signing was big for them and Pettitte will be back as well.
