    Through the first few weeks of the season all of the AL East teams are all bunched up. It will come down to pitching and who can stay the healthiest.

    Sox will get another shot at him this week. This time without the "dirt".

    Mujica has looked better the last couple of appearances. Badenhop is a different story. I would rather see Workman. For the most part the bullpen has been really good.

    Victorino and WMB should be back this week so decisions are going to have to be made. I hope the cold bats are because of the cold weather because no one is hitting. The Sox record is what it is because of the pitching. Anyone with options should be worried.

    Anyone who doesn't see that the $pankees have no budget isn't realistic. They talked a good game this off season, but when all was said and done we saw what they did with their spending like a drunk sailor.

    Crazy ending last night! The Sox got lucky as a usually good O's D threw the game away. Should be an emotional day at Fenway today.

    It was funny watching the $pankees dodge the questions or make up some story ... "it was dirt" was a good one. Now if Pineda gets rocked his next start then the questions will be asked. If your doing, please make an attempt to cover it up. The guy was a mess with the stuff and then by the 5th it was gone.

    Lester has looked good so far and I think the Sox will get the contract done before he cab test the market.

    Between injuries and players not hitting the Sox are having a hard time scoring runs. Hopefully, Middlebrooks isn't to far away because this team lacks power. If Pedrioa is out any length of time who is the long terms solutions? Betts?

    The AL East will be a true test for their starting pitching. It will quickly determine the strength or weaknesses of a staff. Starters, middlemen, or the back end of a bullpen. Plus you have a couple of older pitchers and one who did not pitch at all last year.

    I was a little surprised with the length of the Cabrera contract. For the Tigers this will end up looking like Albert's Angel contract. He is a big guy and I can see him having injury issues moving forward. To me the Trout contract makes a little more sense. If this guy keeps putting the numbers up he is going to make a lot of $$$$$ during his career.

    It always seems that pitchers who have a start that they go beyond 120 pitches end up struggling in their next few starts. With the way bullpens are specialized most starters are only expected to go 6 or 7 innings and 100 pitches becomes the magic number when managers start watching pitchers effectiveness.

    The Sox will come north pretty healthy. A lot of things went well for them last year. Hopefully, Sizemore is another one of those BC master signings like last season. If he gets hurt then the Sox have JBJ waiting in the wings. Not a lot of talk about Pierzykski this spring. I'm not worried about his bat, but his handling of the pitching staff.

    Based on what I've heard this will get done eventually. I think its more about the years then the $$$ for the Sox. He goes out and pitches like an ace again the contract issue will solve itself.

    It would be hard to move Carp. He put up decent numbers last year with limited ABs. I think he has proven that he can hit Righty pitching. What every happened with him taking balls at 3B? If that ever worked out it would make him even more valuable.

    Hopefully, that means the Sox bullpen is loaded with arms and they elected to go with younger arms. Based on his spring numbers Cordero will find a job quickly.

    What is the story with WMB and his contact experiment?

    With winter hanging on its hard to believe that the start of the season is a week away. I think the Sox will compete in the east with the Rays and $panks. Still see the Tigers in the central even with the injury to Iggy (Makes the trade a little better for the Sox). I see the Rangers coming out of the west (A's starting staff has injury problems). The National League division winners: Nationals, Cards and Dodgers.

    Sizemore and Victorino's health is an issue the Sox may have to deal with. I think you will see both Bradley and Brentz at some point during the season.

    I have said it before, I think it would be a wise investment for the Sox. He would be the solid ace as the Sox start to work in the young arms to replace Lackey and Peavy over the next few years. If all of the young pitchers are successful then you have pieces that can be moved. Lester would be the foundation of the staff over the next few years.

    I think it comes down to keeping Bradley or another bullpen arm on the opening day rooster. Everything you here it sounds like they want JBJ to play every day and that means at AAA. If I had to predict the roster that goes north: IF: Napoli, Pedroia, Bogaerts, WMB, Herrera (Won backup IF job) and Carp OF: Gomes, Nava, Sizemore, Victorino C: Pierzynski and Ross DH: Papi SP: Lester, Lackey, Doubront, Peavy and Buchholtz RP: Uehara, Mujica, Tazawa, Miller, Breslow, Capuano and (either Badenhop or Cordero)

    Cecchini is looking pretty good this spring. He is not to far away. If WMB tanks who knows?

    I think you will see a lot of the kids this season. The Sox got by last season with limited injuries so this season there is probably going to be a bigger need for help from AAA. Those prospects that are putting up good numbers will probably get a chance sometime this season.

    Lester is durable, lefty, home grown and has a lot of success in the AL East. Based on his statement that he wants to stay in Boston and would take less to do so this extension will get done.

    The old saying you can never have enough pitching is starting to take shape. First, Dempster shuts it down for 2014. Then Peavy forgets how to use a knife. If Peavy can't put his hand in his glove to field his position then that might open up the 5th spot for one of the kids.
