  1. I can see Roberts getting hurt putting on his jersey when the $pankees have a presser to announce the signing of another old guy. Roberts WAS a good player, but that was awhile ago.
  2. The Sox roster is probably set and will come from the players on their 40 man roster. They probably can get more from their surplus of SPs in spring training when other teams need for increases. Plus if the Sox have spring injuries themselves in their rotation they will be in better shape. Unless the Marlins call about Stanton I think the Sox roster is set going into 2014. Drew would be the exception as the Sox are still looking at a team friendly deal with him.
  3. Is he worth 7 years and 130 million? Much like Ellsbury, Choo is a very nice player, but I don't think he is worth what the Rangers are paying him. He does gain a little respect from me for telling the $pankees their $$$$$ is not good here. As I said before, Bradley is a plus defender and has a nice approach at the plate. He will probably never be a .400 OBP guy, but I think he has the potential to be a solid offensive player, and more importantly the Sox have him under control at reasonable $$$$ for a few years.
  4. That Cub team that finally breaks their curse will have to be like the Sox 2004 team, the "Idiots" didn't let the pressures get to them and they proved that with the comeback in the ALCS in 2004. I always hope the Cubbies do well because we Sox fans have been there and done that losing thing.
  5. I agree that the Sox don't win in 2007 if the Lowell / Beckett trade is not made, but you can also argue that Theo pulled the trigger on the Nomar trade in 2004 that seem to spark the Sox who went on a strong run in August and September that led to a playoff birth as a wildcard and the rest is history. I didn't agree with everything Theo did, but there were some positive moves he made.
  6. Bradley is already a better defensive outfielder then Choo, and though not at Choo's level offensively now I think within a couple of seasons he will be on par with him. Pointless now as Choo signed with the Rangers today.
  7. Do we see Cecchini in 2014?
  8. Looks like the $panks are going for the record. The record for most players that can start to collect Social Security. If you are pushing forty New York is the place to be.
  9. New York media is saying one of the reasons Cano left was because he had some problems with the way Girardi used him. The New York media is quickly turning on this guy. He went from the next great $pankee to a selfish player who was all about the $$$$$.
  10. His D at first was also a positive for the Sox. You can live with the Ks if he is putting up the decent power numbers and giving you solid glove at 1B.
  11. Its funny that the $pankee fans are all over Cano on New York sports talk radio for taking the big $$$$$ that the Mariners were waving at him, yet they have no problem when the $panks doing the same thing. Listening to it, it was like they felt how dare a player of Cano's ability leave New York. By the way Cano looked good with his beard and Mariner uniform. Between his comments and the beard he did take some shots at the $panks.
  12. With two older catchers I think Lavarnway will get a chance to prove himself sometime next summer. If he doesn't produce then Vazquez will be the one young catcher in 2015 or possibly earlier if Lavarnway production is that bad.
  13. Choo is going to want 7 years and at $18 mil per, the answer is a NO! He is not worth that investment for the Sox.
  14. Sox -Yankee tickets are like gold. Good luck finding tickets because a trip to Fenway for the kids is something they will remember the rest of their lives.
  15. It has not stopped them before. The $pankees are like a college student with their parent's credit card on a shopping spree. If it looks good and is for sale the $pankees will buy it. They reacted the same way after 2007.
  16. I get the feeling after what the Sox went though with Dice K they are going to shy away from Tanaka. They use the excuse that they are heavy with SP and the need is not there. Plus the $pankees need for SP will make them go pretty hard for him. If he is posted it would surprise me if the $pankees don't sign him.
  17. I thought Christmas at Fenway happened in the end of October with the third title in ten years.
  18. Ellsbury is a very good player, but he is not a 20 million plus a year player. The $pankees did over pay him. This is a player that had one MVP type season, but has been hurt a lot over the last four years. People argue that they were freak injuries with him running into people. For him to be the effective player he is he has to play that style and that causes his chance to be injuried to grow. If he doesn't play all out then he becomes a less effective player. It was his all out effort for a ball that caused his collision with Beltre and his all out effort to break up a play against the Rays that causes the Ray's fielder to fall on him. Its his sppedd and all out style that makes him the player he is.
  19. If they didn't give one of their own that type of $$$$$ they are not bringing a FA from another team for that kind of $$$$$.
  20. I think the Sox roster is set except for the left handed hitting infielder that can play the right side (Drew?) and possibly a right handed hitting OF that can play CF. The excess of SP will be sorted out in spring training when injuries occur and other teams needs for SP grows. Unless Marlins finally give in and make Stanton available I can't see the Sox making any other major moves.
  21. I think its Cano's power numbers that the $pankees are going to miss. No way Ellsbury is going to hit more HRs or drive in more runs then Cano did.
  22. I'm hearing that he would take a Pedey hometown discount to stay in Boston long term. With the $pankees lefty heavy lineup we need Lester and an improving Doubrount.
  23. With the $pankees signing of Ellsbury let the JBJ era begin.
  24. Living in Jersey I see a lot of $pankee games and there are a lot of pitchers that have that surprised look on their face when a ball leaves the park in RF. It is where pop ups turn into homeruns.
  25. I can't remember when the $pankees best player took his bat and gloves and went to play with someone else. It hasn't happened in my life time. A lineup without Cano looks a lot more pitchable though.
