  1. Giants were desperate for SP (Cain is injuried) and Peavy will give them innings. I guess the Sox have to be pleased what they got back. These are additional chips that they have to help the quick rebuild. They can deal from there surplus of young pitchers. They need a young right handed power hitting OF in the worse way though. Peavy pitches tonight, watch him throw a good game tonight.
  2. Why would the Sox take a big contract like the one Kemp has (Years and dollars)? He too is pushing 30 and has had a series of injuries over the past few seasons. If he is healthy he would probably beat the hell out of Fenway, but that is a big if.
  3. I think the Sox missed Victorino big time. Besides what he does on the field when he is healthy, he is great in the clubhouse (The anti-AJ). Lets hope he stays healthy for the rest of his contract.
  4. I think he prides himself on getting booed by the opposing team's fans. I think there were more guys on the Sox then not that had issues with him before the season even started. If they were winning it would not have been a problem. His personality doesn't mix well when a team is losing.
  5. Just based on things I have heard and read it doesn't look good that the Sox resign Lester. I hope I'm wrong, but I got a bad feeling. If he doesn't sign with the Sox, you know who is going to throw a ton of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (I believe they print their own money) at him. An it will kill me see that happen. If the Sox are saving all of this money with all of the younger players they surely will have some to pay for an ace of a staff. Lester's numbers show that he is durable and will be good for the 5 years. I think it would be a good investment.
  6. Either Holt or Lester were the first half MVP for the Sox. I think the Sox will use him as a super sub in 2015. He seems to have found it at the plate. Too bad it didn't happen sooner, and maybe the whole Drew signing could have been avoided.
  7. Unless the Sox come out of the All-Star break on fire they will be sellers and we will see a lot more of the younger players. Remember even if they do trade Uehara they could always bring him back next year. He is playing year to year at this stage in his career and might want to come back to Boston for a year.
  8. The Sox are high on Marrero (AAA) who is better defensively at SS, and is starting to hit the ball. Though he will never hit like Bogaerts if he is going to be a productive major league SS then you would have to think about a Bogaerts / Stanton trade. The Sox have no power bats in the OF, and known on the way. To say no is not right, you have at least think about it.
  9. The Wainright thing (grooving one for you know who) made me throw up a little bit in my mouth. He is a $pankee so the whole All-Star thing was a bit much.
  10. It amazing! He is playing every day, but at multiply positions. It has not effected his offense at all. He plays the game the right way. He will be on the 2015 roster.
  11. The youth movement will make the rest of the season more interesting. Plus you can take an inventory of what you have and what you need for 2015. If they make a run that would be great, but if they don't I want to see the young Sox.
  12. Maybe shorter years at higher dollars will get it done. The guy is big and has proven to be durable. I'm thinking it is going to take 24 mil per year (5/ $120). He will be 36 when it is done.
  13. I agree with everything said above. This stupid law suite is only going to bring more attention to taking a nap in the stands. The guy needs to laugh at this because it is funny.
  14. Don't see the Cards giving up Craig straight up for Peavy. If Peavy continues to pitch like he has the last few starts the Sox should be able to get something of value from a team that believes they need a back end of the rotation starter for a playoff push.
  15. If the guy can hit .250 he will be a very serviceable big league catcher. The pitchers love throwing to him, and he has a canon for an arm. If he does well the next year and a half it will be interesting what the Sox do when Swihart is ready. That kid can hit. An the rest of his game is improving.
  16. Stanton won't make it to be a FA. The Fish will trade him before he walks, and who ever gets him will give up a lot so they will sign him long term.
  17. I still can't see trading Lester. The last season and a half he has proven he can be the ace. You need an anchor for all of the young arms. I also can't see them trading Ortiz or Pedroia. Other then that I would listen to offers for any other veteran Sox. 2013 proved that in today's baseball world you can turn things around quickly.
  18. Saw the Sea Dogs in Trenton on 7-1. Marrero looked good. Swihart looks like he knows what he is doing at the plate. Owens didn't have his best stuff, but only gave up a pair of runs. Coyle looks like a baseball player as well. Short, plays 2B, and handles the bat pretty good. Sound like anyone? He's got a spark too - as he was tossed for arguing balls and strikes.
  19. I saw Owens pitch on Tuesday (7-1) in Trenton. He didn't have his best stuff, but still only allowed two runs over 6 innings. I think he remains in AA this year and will start next year at AAA.
  20. He has looked pretty good in the OF. Moving forward Holt should be in the 2015 plans for the Sox. He would be a great super utility guy!
  21. WMB is playing at AAA so he is not too far away. What do the Sox do when he is ready?
  22. Went to Sea Dogs game in Trenton the other night and Marrero looked really good. Looks really good with the glove, and hit the ball pretty good as well. First AB he hit a ball to dead center that the CF made a nice catch at the wall.
  23. If moving Peavy and/or Doubrount means that rotation spots open up for the young arms down on the farm then I'm on board with that.
  24. Getting swept by the Cubs shows that this team is not playing baseball in October. Its a shame because this is a very winnable AL East. Hopefully, the Sox play over the next few weeks will make it easier for the FO to determine whether they are buyers or sellers.
  25. If the $pankees don't make the playoffs again this year they will open the vault to buy more players at top $$$$$$$. If the Sox are worried about the length of the contract with Lester then make it 4 years at bigger $$$$$ per. Lester is big and durable and has to have 4 solid season left. Tell me it wouldn't kill everyone to see him in a $pankee uniform replacing CC in the rotation.
