  1. Sox need a big bat in the middle of the lineup. I'm sure they are looking beyond the obvious of Stanton and Martinez. I don't know about giving up Benni though.
  2. All I want for Christmas is a 30 to 40 homer power bat!
  3. Cora played with Varitek so it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up on his staff. Varitek would be beneficial to helping the pitching and maybe what is needed to get Swihart over the hump.
  4. Happy Yankee Elimination Day !!! It is one of my favorite holidays of the year. It was getting old hearing them be called the Baby Bombers. Two major members of the Sox, Bennie and Devers are younger then the youngest Yankee. The average age of their playoff roster is about the same as the Sox. They still have the second highest payroll in baseball. An what other team can add the likes of Frazier, Robertson, Kahnle, Gray, and Garcia during the season. Today, is a beautiful day!
  5. How much money is tied up with pitchers who blow their arms out and teams need to find additional SPs any way? Whose to say that the number six starter wouldn't be a younger less expensive guy who a team is looking to limit innings. I don't know if you can make the claim that teams will be spending that much more. Grant it the only way this works if the rosters are expanded because benches are already shorter because most teams have the extra arm in the bullpen.
  6. The Sox will add a power bat, and a full season of Devers will add to the power numbers.
  7. Everything you hear or read Cora is the guy. He already is a part of one of the best holidays in Red Sox Nation, Yankee Elimination Day. As bench coach this is all goo experience for him that he can bring to the Sox. Spanks held to 1 run in the final two games, he was part of that conversation that accomplished that.
  8. Says the yankee fan. If healthy he has some value to the Sox. A switch hitter that can play a few positions. If not with the Sox (which I hope happens), then as a trading chip.
  9. Pedey only makes sense if you keep his glove in the lineup. At this stage in his career he doesn’t hit enough to be DH.
  10. Pedey’s knee is a long time issue. I think he needs to get the knee fixed, and don’t play until he is ready. I can’t see doing a whole season what they did with him the last two months of the season. That probably means at minimum no 2018 season, and then you have to think can he return at his age if he misses a whole season? That means 2B becomes another hole that needs to be looked at.
  11. He gets a pass because Farrell was not his guy to lead the team he put together. He now gets a chance to pick his manager and add the pieces to the mix that will get the Sox past the first round. The Spankees are back so the competition in the AL East just got tougher.
  12. The Sox need to add power to the lineup. A team that plays half of their games at Fenway and are last in the AL in homeruns. I am done waiting for Ramirez to consistently be a power threat. That leaves 1B and DH where power can be increased with the addition of some bats. Unfortunately, Hanley will be back and leaves room for one power bat.
  13. Fister and pray for four days of rain! Who would have thought when D.D. signed him that he could do what he has been doing.
  14. There were too many called third strikes this weekend that Sox didn't put a swing on it. If Sox do not start hitting it will be a long September.
  15. If Fister continues the trend he is on does he get a start if the Sox make the post season?
  16. This weekend was not good for the Sox bats. If it wasn't for three swings on Friday (An Fister), the $panks would have gotten the brooms out. It was painful to watch. Hitting like that, and the Sox will not hang on to the AL East.
  17. If he takes reps at 1B, can play OF and C as well, and gets his swing back, there would be a place for a switch hitter on the Sox that can do those things. I think everything that has happened to him over the last two years has got to his head. He needs to step back and refocus. Hitting a baseball is not easy, or else we would all be doing it.
  18. Amen Youk! Sanchez does that out in the real world he would be arrested.
  19. It takes a real man like "Sucker Punch" Sanchez to wait until not one, but two Tigers were being held down to get his punches in. I wonder if fat a@# C.C. thinks that is weak? C.C. have another donut! "Sucker Punch" suspension reduced to three games by Torre. What a joke! What is the rational of reducing a already weak suspension? Are we sure Torre is still not on the Yankee payroll.
  20. Also, an effective Addison Reed to get to Kimbrel is very important to the success of the Sox moving forward in 2017.
  21. If Price is healthy and can only pitch out of the pen he has to be on the post season roster. With more days off during the playoffs the bullpen plays a bigger role. (See KC and Cleveland the last few years). Price is better then any other lefty we have in the pen. He played that role for TB in his rookie season.
  22. Stanton gets hurt (Price) then what? All of that money tied up in one player is not where the Sox need to go. They would ask for Devers and Benny and that is young controllable players with a lot of upside. If you could get him without giving up Devers and Benny then maybe you could think about it. My fear would be that he would come to Boston and become what Judge has become (second half) for the Yankees. The bright lights of Boston has that effect. Right now he is playing in a stress free situation with the Marlins. So I would think real long before trading a Devers or Benny who have show that Boston doesn't seem to bother them.
  23. A lot depends on the plan for Hanley. If Hanley can't be your every day first basemen that eliminates many from that list. It would force DD to get a First basemen. Are struggles against left handlers says it should be a right handed bat with some power. It would be nice if they could catch lightning in the bottle with Brentz, but I don't know if he is ever going to hit above the AAA level. Travis would be another cheap option, But Sox need a 1B with power. Travis hasn't show that.
  24. If Fister has found himself he needs to be in the discussion. If he has a great September he should be in the picture. Don't forget we let Rich Hill get away. It's possible if the Sox signed Hill that the Price signing never happens. He has been real good for the Dodgers and for a lot less money then Price. Fister could be that find!
  25. Nice to see Grey's mistakes end up in the seats last night. Benny becoming new Yankee killer!
