  1. Kid has done everything to show that he belongs. Its good to see that the last place finishes didn't happen for nothing. The Sox outfield is both above average with their O and D.
  2. It seams the Sox are having a lot of WTF moments that Farrell has his hands on. If the Sox miss out on the playoffs it could cost him his job. He is not DD's guy so it wouldn't take much. I mean using your best SP as a pitch runner and having get hurt is at the top of the list, but there are other WTF moments that make you shake your head.
  3. As bad as the Sox have played since the All-Star break they are only 2 games out of first. It is there for the taking. All three AL East teams are flawed teams and is the reason why known of them will run away with the division. Sox get the pitching they have just as good of a shot as the other two.
  4. If Wright is not right when he comes back it will probably cost the Sox a shot at the playoffs, and should cost Farrell his job.
  5. You could probably trade him, but would have to eat a lot of his contract and get next to nothing for him. I think it is the Sox only option. Can't see him at 3B or DH on the 2017 Sox.
  6. Sending Barnes out for a second inning I questioned that. If you do that you have to go get him after the first walk. The Sox really lucky last night with what Ziegler did. I don't get leaving Barnes in for three walks in his SECOND inning.
  7. It is at the point where Leon has proved that he is a threat now with the bat. He is the starter moving forward until proven otherwise. As far as Benintendi, he has not looked over matched. As long as he is the best option in LF he will get the playing time. Rotating Holt around to keep everyone fresh is what he is best at. Playing 3 or 4 times a week and he produces. Hopefully, the Sox finally learned their lesson with him.
  8. Bogaerts has improved a lot though. It was only a couple of seasons ago that the Sox FO believed he was not the answer at SS. With his O he only needs to make the plays an every day short stop must make. Its kind of the opposite of what we were saying about JBJ. Because of his D he only needed to hit .250 and have an average OPS.
  9. Agree. Swihart's is greatest value to the Sox as a catcher. Leon is the starter until proven otherwise. Vazquez starts 2017 as backup and Swihart gets all of the reps at AAA. Swihart's ability to prove he is an everyday starter at catcher gives the Sox the most value.
  10. Both X and JBJ have looked fatigue at the plate. That is where having Holt as a super sub will come in handy. That is why they call them the "Dog days of summer".
  11. If he is traded it will be for some teams bad contract. Or the Sox would have to eat a lot of the contract. The Sox have a lot of younger players who make very little making the second option a possibility. Don't see room now that the Sox have Moncada playing 3B.
  12. He is a gamer. The Muddy Chicken has played on two championship teams and has played hurt. He also took a home town discount to stay in Boston.
  13. The AGE factor is a good point.
  14. Like I said Benintendi became the best option in LF with all of the injuries and the Sox not getting a OF at the deadline.
  15. I agree. Pedey is not the top hitter on this team, but when he is hitting the Sox win. His D is still gold glove. The Sox FO must feel the same as Moncada is now taking reps at 3B. Remember Pedey did move a pretty good hitter to the outfield (Betts). An that has worked out pretty good.
  16. Swihart might not ever become the every day catcher for the Sox, but I think he gives the Sox more value as a catcher. He becomes a bigger trading chip if he shows he can handle the position on an every day basis.
  17. The Sox made the right decision on Ellsbury. His contract has become a problem for the $panks. I know its a few years down the road, but do you give Bogaerts and/or Betts the big contracts that the Sox didn't give Ellsbury?
  18. Until Vazquez hits Leon this season has been the better all around player. Vasquez may be better defensively, but Leon has not hurt the Sox.
  19. I agree. It seems that since Bendi has been called up it is him or Betts crossing the plate with another run. Looking into the future, has Betts production make him a number 3 hitter in '17 (Post Big Papi) or do the Sox leave him at the top?
  20. I view Leon as the starter until someone proves that wrong. He continues to hit, and his defense and the handling of the staff has been good. The kid is 27 and a switch hitter. It would be great that the Sox lucked into this. He was signed as a depth player, and because of injuries and Vasquez's lack of hitting has emerged as the starting catcher. The Sox could have had another such player with Rich Hill. I'd liked to know the rational for not signing him this past off season.
  21. Benintendi has not looked over matched so far. The Sox brought him up because he became the best option in LF. His first test will come when pitchers make the adjustment on him. He might struggle and end up needing time at AAA, but for now he is the best option for LF. The kid does have a sweet swing and the blast to center that ended up being a double shows he has the power needed for a corner outfielder.
  22. With Benintendi looking like he is the real deal in LF the Sox should move Swihart back to C. Because his season is over I think he starts in AAA in '17. As the catching situation long term is still up in the air his best value to the Sox would be as a catcher. Whether he ends up as the catcher of the future or is a piece that can bring back pitching I think his best value is as a catcher.
  23. Will not come close to making playoffs unless the SP situation is corrected. Besides putting the team in the hole early, it is crushing the bullpen. We need the starters to go deeper into the game. Price has to be Price. I don't think you can ask more of Porcello and Wright.
  24. JBJ has produced beyond what we could hope for. With the consistent D in CF and a much friendlier contract then JE this is a no brainer.
  25. Rays will never trade him to a team within the division.
