  1. Until Vazquez hits Leon this season has been the better all around player. Vasquez may be better defensively, but Leon has not hurt the Sox.
  2. I agree. It seems that since Bendi has been called up it is him or Betts crossing the plate with another run. Looking into the future, has Betts production make him a number 3 hitter in '17 (Post Big Papi) or do the Sox leave him at the top?
  3. I view Leon as the starter until someone proves that wrong. He continues to hit, and his defense and the handling of the staff has been good. The kid is 27 and a switch hitter. It would be great that the Sox lucked into this. He was signed as a depth player, and because of injuries and Vasquez's lack of hitting has emerged as the starting catcher. The Sox could have had another such player with Rich Hill. I'd liked to know the rational for not signing him this past off season.
  4. Benintendi has not looked over matched so far. The Sox brought him up because he became the best option in LF. His first test will come when pitchers make the adjustment on him. He might struggle and end up needing time at AAA, but for now he is the best option for LF. The kid does have a sweet swing and the blast to center that ended up being a double shows he has the power needed for a corner outfielder.
  5. With Benintendi looking like he is the real deal in LF the Sox should move Swihart back to C. Because his season is over I think he starts in AAA in '17. As the catching situation long term is still up in the air his best value to the Sox would be as a catcher. Whether he ends up as the catcher of the future or is a piece that can bring back pitching I think his best value is as a catcher.
  6. Will not come close to making playoffs unless the SP situation is corrected. Besides putting the team in the hole early, it is crushing the bullpen. We need the starters to go deeper into the game. Price has to be Price. I don't think you can ask more of Porcello and Wright.
  7. JBJ has produced beyond what we could hope for. With the consistent D in CF and a much friendlier contract then JE this is a no brainer.
  8. Rays will never trade him to a team within the division.
  9. .500 team unless something is done to improve the SP.
  10. Sox lucky to be only four games out. The division is there for the taking. Need pitching HELP big time! I'm so done with Buchholz. Price needs to step up, and I don't think we can ask for any more from Porcello. Please don't rain when Wright is pitching. Need someone from AAA to step up, and another SP needs to be brought in via trade.
  11. Doesn't do Sox any good as a SP on the DL all the time. He is to up and down as a starter. Let him go out for one inning and throw high 90s.
  12. The SP Will determine if the Sox can compete in the AL East. At the pace they are on now they will burn out the bullpen as they will be use much too much. 5 innings out of your starters isn't going to cut it.
  13. I think it was a panic move after missing out on Jose Abreau. Didn't want to get left out of the Cuban market.
  14. Amen to that. The offence has been fine so far. Its early, but the SP has been shakey to say the least.
  15. Pablo to DL, gives FO 15 days to figure out what to do with Panda. Rusney to AAA. Needs to play to find his swing. Yes it is beginning to look like both are albatross contracts.
  16. People that don't like Boggs probably can't get the picture of him on the horse in a $pankee uniform out of their mind. He was a great hitter!
  17. I think Buchholtz is the key to Sox success. You know what you are getting out of Price, but you need that solid number 2. You got to think both Rodriguez and Porcello will be better.
  18. Would be nice to see Papi go out on top with another season that goes deep into October.
  19. Agree. JBJ doesn't have to hit like he did in August to have a positive effect on the Sox.
  20. He is the reason why they felt comfortable trading Margot to the Padres. This guy is on the fast track.
  21. The older you get the harder it is play with the extra weight. Lets hope he lost some pounds and comes to ST ready to have a productive season.
  22. You have to believe Price will be a big influence on him.
  23. I think the Sox will get three solid years from Price and then let him walk with the likes of Rodriguez, Anderson, and Kopech ready to take over the top of the staff duties.
  24. For the Sox to have success in 2016 they need the vets to stay healthy and the younger guys to not take giant steps backwards. 1B and 3B are weaknesses until proven otherwise. The strengths are the bullpen outfield defense.
  25. Someone needs to step up in regards to getting close to 200 innings. By trading Miley they lost some in stone innings out of their starters.
