  1. Yup - not very happy about it but it doesn't change how I feel about Sale.
  2. I'm not absolutely opposed to bringing him up if he is needed. i just think that many people will be surprised when they see him for the first time. I hope that physically he is able to hold up. I doubt seriously that he is 5'10" and I really doubt that he weighs in at 170. He is small. he is in no way put together like Mookie. he may very well be our future left fielder. He also might not be.
  3. As good as he is, i do not have a good feeling about Chris Sale. If you are going to give up the best that you have potentially, you better be damned sure that you are getting not just a quality pitcher but I quality person as well. I like everything about David Price - I don't feel the same way about Sale. I would never give up what they are going to want for him. We aren't all that bad without him.
  4. more I say - all of the more
  5. my oh my !!!
  6. From the standpoint of just being a defensive catcher, i have liked him since we got him. Vazquez's upside may be higher but right now i'm going with leon as the better receiver. his hitting has been other worldly. Will it continue - probably not but who knows. Enjoy what he is doing. Leon is young- Vazquez is young - good problem to have.
  7. Roster speculation = if they are smart (which they are), we sign Betts, Bogaerts, and Bradley for whatever it takes for as long as we can have them. End of story!
  8. I'm thinking that maybe it isn't. Everyone wants strong, durable pitchers in the bullpen. We are seeing a ton of overuse injuries as well as others recently. Since Holt and the rest of the boys aren't out there in the bullpen, I'm not sure blaming Farrell for the latest injury works. I wonder what his bench coach and heir apparent had to say? Koji is a fan favorite whom we need if he can pitch. If he has to babied out in the bullpen, think we have to keep looking for durability. My question - what to hell is going on with Kelly? As near as I can tell, he is currently wasting bullets in the minors. If there is any blame to cast because of a 40 year relief pitcher's injury, i'm blaming our starting staff - all 35 of them. Not sure that is an accurate count(lol).
  9. Leon was a good get from the beginning . A pretty good catcher who just couldn't hit. Now he can hit. He is still a young man. Vazquez could eventually wind up being the right guy but at the moment he isn't and it isn't even close. It is possible that Leon could be our catcher going forward. Vazquez would bring us just as much I think in a trade!
  10. A hitting savant. He was so good at what he wanted to do that you really could for the most part ignore all of the horseshit that he brought along.
  11. Numbskull who could hit.
  12. Manny was (is) a numbskull. One of the greatest right handed hitters of all time but a true numbskull. I was glad that his bat was in our lineup but I was never a fan of the antics that came along with him.
  13. Let me start by saying - correct - i am just a fan. Wanting him to be comfortable playing a position anywhere is important. Unless he really is a poor fielder which I guess he might be, this line of thinking puzzles me. He is a prospect for sure. A very good one. The suggestion that he could be used as pinch runner is unbelievable. He could be for sure but it kind of looks like he might be able to hit. With the tools he has, he must just suck in the field or the Sox don't think that they will need him anytime soon. I would hate to see them trade this kid but his value right now might be as high as it can get. Stockpiling prospects is one thing but stockpiling really good ones is something entirely different. oh - couple more fingers for him last night. Ho hum - hope he gets comfortable!
  14. sliders/fastballs for the most part
  15. Yes - much more to the point with lots of good points made. I do like your points. I don't always agree but that is beside the point. Not sure how I feel about Espinoza just yet. good potential for sure but I do like Pomeranz going forward. We have a no nonsense general manager who is concerned about both the present and the future.

Stensen's win today was masterful. Phil was brilliant.
  17. his projection has been consistently middle of the rotation. He could be an important piece for us and he might just as likely be used as a trade chip. We shall see. If all things had moved along consistently, my money would be on Brian Johnson as opposed to Owens. As we all know, Johnson has some other health related issues. Not saying a lot but his start in Lowell was a good beginning.
  18. Wait - what?
  19. There is a little uncertainty in my mind about how good Owens is going to get. We shall see. I don't have any concerns about E-Rod other than his health. If tipping your pitches is the only thing going against your progress, then you are in pretty good shape. but there i go again - I'm an E-Rod fan and have been since we got him. when he is healthy, he looks like what he was initially projected to be. I think that they got this one right.
  20. I listened to a good part of the game. it didn't sound like he was dominant just good. Threw his pitches where he wanted to throw them.
  21. Maybe that is why they had the gun ramped up for Chapman yesterday. He is good enough. They don't need to try to make him look better than he is.
  22. Nice outing for Owens yesterday. Still a young pitcher. He may very well still become a middle of the rotation kind of arm. He still has value!
  23. I understand. i've been a fan of this kids for awhile now. If he is healthy, I think that he is this kind of pitcher against anybody very soon. with the addition of Pomeranz, our one time weak starting rotation looks really quite good all of a sudden. Fairly young as well. Today and the future of this team is looking better and better.
  24. I don't think that DD is done. he is a worker and will look to continue the search for bullpen help. if E-Rod is healthy, this is the guy we are going to be seeing. he is a game changer. i've felt all along that we would be battling for a wildcard spot - not so much now. Depending upon what Pomeranz can bring, there is no reason to think that this team can't compete for the East championship.
  25. I have no clue what you folks are doing here but I am jumping in anyway. i have been a great supporter of E-Rods since he was acquired. he has always projected as a #2 with potential to be better. He is a kid and if he is healthy and ready, he allows our GM to strengthen our team in other areas. i don't think that he is done by any means but the need for another starter at this time might not be that important. It is early but if this kid is healthy he sure as hell is better than anybody's 5. he could have great career ahead of him.
