  1. I don't know how often JF will put Rutledge and Holt on the field at the same time. It is John farrell - You just don't know. Once would be too often for me. John has a history of coming up with some extraordinary lineups. I'm just trying to help him out. I don't know whether it would be criminal or not but no amount of "it is no big deal" makes it alright when it comes to someone who has done all that has been asked and outperformed repeatedly players that might be kept ahead of him. I am glad to see that he at least seems like the better choice to you. I might just eliminate the word seems and call it a no brainer. I have this moral compass inside of me when it comes to what is right and what is wrong. I would prefer that they trade this kid as opposed to sending him down. He deserves a chance - if not with us then with someone else. He shouldn't have to wait. Oh, by the way, I don't agree that he would be number 25 on the roster if a list was made based on best to last.
  2. I do understand the rationale behind a possible send down for this kid Fisk. i will never accept that it is the right move in this case though.
  3. It seems that you are trying to educate me Notin. No can do. I already get what you are saying. Hernandez has earned the right to be on the 25 man based on any criteria that anyone can come up with. If he isn't, it will not be right. Any amount of somewhat logical spin will not make it better. it will be wrong.
  4. Personally it would depend upon where he wanted to shove that big old horn.
  5. i'm not disputing the fact that data gathering has lead to some significant changes in the game. It has for sure. I'm glad that there are some players who are embracing this new world of baseball.
  6. It truly depends on what he chooses to clutch.
  7. I will just say again with great emphasis that it will be ridiculous if Hernandez is not on the 25 man roster. Based not only upon what he has done this spring but what he did last year as well. I realize that based on who has options and who doesn't that he might get sent back. i also realize that he eventually will get his chance. If he gets sent back, Rutledge and Holt are quite likely to be on the field together at the ml level while Hernandez (who is a better player) plays in Pawtucket. Their lineup would be better with Hernandez in it.
  8. hey - potato potato- I'm very literal and if he thinks that Hernandez claim to fame is his ability to hit AAA pitching which is what he said more power to him .
  9. you have a very fair arguement here as well. i just have never been able to figure out the over the top love for Vazquez. i like him and his potential as much as anyone. i've read all of the reports as well. i think that Leon is as good a catcher in all phases of the catching department and I think that he will outhit Vaz as well.
  10. yes probably in a way yes but what the f*** I am not totally sure that bigfoot doesn't exist. If rally caps and dirty laundry make players feel more comfortable in pressure situations is it possible that they might outperform what the stats seem to indicate as their legal limits? Now we can laugh at all of these silly little things and call them senselessly stupid but if they actually matter to guys in the arena playing the game is it possible that there might be something to what they have believed in since the game was created. I think that I understand the importance of analytics in today's game but I don' think that the boys actually playing the game are going to be giving up what they feel are the right ways of doing things because someone analyzing data tells them it is time to change. I believe that there are lots of things in the world today that happen with no real logical explanation for them happening. Some good some bad. I don't need nor want all things defined.
  11. We will see how he performs but it is highly unlikely in my opinion that Vazquez outhits him. Leon is every bit as good a catcher as Vazquez.
  12. When did you learn this? Am I just so naive or are you just so far ahead o the curve notin? What you have said here is that if Rutledge and Holt are kept and Hernandez is sent down, it is primarily because he has shown only that he can hit minor league pitching. That is ********! He is a better baseball player than either of these two and deserves to be on the team.
  13. Really --- what the hell is wrong with Leon? Do you all really think that he will just suck? I don't. I see him as the better of the two catchers - Vazquez and Leon- going forward. There is nothing that Vazquez has done or might do that puts him ahead of Leon. There is a years difference between the two catchers for Christ's sake. Leon is better than Vazquez and will continue to be better than Vazquez. The unknown is Swihart. Before I would ever consider a trade of Leon, I would have to have a guy ready step in to his place that was his equal if not better. That could be Swihart but it is very doubtful that it would ever be Vazquez.
  14. I might actually understand what you are trying to say here and I might actually agree with you.
  15. What makes you think that Leon's time is "obviously limited"? Even though I eventually think that it is likely that the job goes to Swihart down the road, at this point in time, I don't see much of a debate here. Others will have to outplay him to dislodge him from the starter's role. Leon is a very good defensive catcher who just might surprise us again.
  16. Malzone's .270 came long before the mound was changed to help hitters. he was my favorite player for years.
  17. If they use anyone other than Holt on occasion, I would think that it would likely mean a call up for Sam Travis. My guess is that they will do everything that they can do to keep Swihart behind the plate.
  18. The beauty of this whole debate is that you can. It would be kind of like me trying to tell you what constitutes a clutch moment. Thanks but no thanks right.
  19. Wrap that crow in bacon. You will be able to choke it down. Everything is better wrapped in bacon.
  20. I think that eventually - maybe not even until next year - Travis will get his chance. Once he comes up, I think that he will stay and be a productive hitter for quite some time.
  21. That clears things up for me!!! One last question though - Is it possible to be one of the greatest clutch athletes (Nicklaus) and also one of the greatest chokers of all time? (Nicklaus once again)
  22. Its that damn depth thing coming back to bite me again.
  23. choking is clearly just a random occasion of someone not getting the job done every now and then
