  1. I'm thinking that it is possible that you don't know the history of the New York Giants in New England when it comes to football. When you are the only show in town, you tend to attract some interest.
  2. A great deal of time is spent here talking about developing young pitching. i agree that we need to do a better job of it but Price and Wright are over 30. Sale, Porcello, Rodriguez, and Pomeranz are all 28 or younger. That is not bad. We may not have developed them but somehow we got them. Over the years, we have been very successful getting it done in a variety of ways. We have been able to do what most teams just dream about. I like the youth overall of our starting core. Personally, I don't care where they come from or how we get them - as long as we get them.
  3. But some how this franchise just keeps rolling along. i think that many of us tend to focus on the bad stuff or things that we think could go wrong. i'm just saying that we have had a tremendous amount go right for us over the years. For all of this talk about poor pitcher development, not producing power hitters, poor trades, lousy coaching, and poor medical staff, i'm sure as hell glad that this is the team and the region that I support. This is a very wealthy, multi dimensional program that we have here. We all have our pet peeves and things that we feel the Sox could do a better job at but really - not too bad I'd say. We can question every move that is made but it is pretty tough to deny what the results overall have proven.
  4. i certainly see your point as well. I would counter by saying that many pitchers became great pitchers over time with much hard work. I will never get too excited about teenage pitchers in particular. As much can go wrong as right with them.
  5. Like so many moves that GM's make, they get judged after the fact. It does look like he used some commons sense and played the odds based on buck's history. If Clay was a healthy Clay pitching the way that he sometimes can, it would be a different story. I was in favor of the move because at some point I think you just have to cut your losses and move on.
  6. Sorry if I misinterpreted. I really do think that it is a stretch to think that we were going to anyone resembling Sale for Espinoza plus a few others in a trade. I get why everyone continues to be upbeat about Espinoza. i just come from a different point of view when it comes to teenage pitchers and I don't care what the scouting reports say. I really do want to see him do well but I still like that trade.
  7. Hey - just a phrase I threw out. They might skip a lot of beats. But I will to continue to stay upbeat. If what i said made anyone think that I don't think that we still might have some issues with respect to who our catcher is going forward, then maybe I could use a beating.
  8. Let's see - Sale and Espinoza in some way being compared to one another at all! Honest to God - I may love the kid to if and when he ever makes it to the bigs. To date, he has done nothing to warrant his lofty ranking. he may for sure but he has quite a ways to go. I'll take the big young lefty who I have always felt could give us a solid mid rotation (maybe higher) performance all day everyday.
  9. I love the fact that we have two top of the line catchers. it is a long season and sharing that job without skipping a talent beat has to a good thing.
  10. "Whiners Unite" is a patented phrase!
  11. I do disagree with you for sure on point number 2. For the record, i do not consider you a whiner or a gloom and doomer. I also know that there won't be anything I say that is going to have much of an effect on what your thoughts or concerns are. I'm smarter than to think I can work that angle with you.lol Once again, for the record, i don't really care who the GM is as long as they are moving us toward the common goal. my concern is directed toward the players. I think Theo was great. I don't think that Ben was as good as you think he was. I like the aggressive moves that DD has made for the most part.
  12. Potatoe, potato - I do call it whining. Not everyone here who says something positive about what DD does needs to be branded "anti Ben" or anyone else. if losing the players that you mentioned dampens your future hopes and dreams with respect to our franchise, so be it. I feel sorry for you and anyone else who feels the same. oh well, I'm very much looking forward to the next 10 years of Red Sox baseball. No looking back for me. I'm a historian of sorts so I do appreciate Red Sox history, but I see the future being very bright. Thank you Theo, thank you Ben, I choose to look in the other direction.
  13. You know what - this is a tired whine. win now win now win now. I'm really curious to know what posters you are referring to. Most of us have given credit where credit is due to our illustrious gm's throughout the years. Disagreeing with someone's point of view with respect to the direction that the franchise wants to take toward accomplishing special things does not necessarily mean that someone is in "win now mode" . There are many posters here who truly do not think that Dombrowski has done anything to dampen our future dreams. Has he done things differently then Ben cxerington did? Of course. Liking what DD does does not mean that you disliked what Ben did.
  14. A little love for what Vazquez got done last night too. How many teams out there wish they had one of what we have 2 of? this could turn into one of the great job-shares in franchise history.
  15. I just worry about pitchers in general. Haven't read anything about Kppech yet but I do wish we still had him. I have read about Moncada's start.
  16. good to hear - health is the key
  17. This is pretty much how I felt exactly. Once again, he is young, left handed, and big. He seems like a hard working young man. there is absolutely nothing there that we have seen to be negative about. I have been down on some of our guys in the past for sure but normally it is because of something that relates to them doing or saying something that I just don't agree with. This kid has done nothing that I have of heard of to cause anyone to be down on him. Relax and enjoy I say. It is possible believe it or not that he has already accomplished more at the ml league level than Espinoza ever will. I hope that I am wrong but I would take a young ml proven pitcher with upside over a teenager who is years away all day every day. Oh wait - years from now if I am proven wrong, i will eat that crow as well. And for the record - allthough I am not into animal cruelty - I'll get that crow myself. Had a little experience - lol
  18. You are right and I am guessing that it isn't just New England thing though. The gloom and doomers can be overwhelming. There is 0 happening to not be excited about. Today as well as tomorrow. The current ownership has and continues to show that they are willing to use all ways to build and sustain a healthy franchise. No one is operating on a win now at all costs philosophy. The farm has been dented but not at the expense of our future. On going on record here once again - Although I absolutely agree with the deal that brought us Chris Sale, the only prospect that I think we are going to someday really want back = Moncada.
  19. Good night for Swihart - single, home run, 3 rbi's
  20. yup - just heard it again - Bucksnorts out with an injury. That gd shoulder program we have just keeps working its magic.lol
  21. Nice job for Pomeranz tonight. He is young, he is big, he can throw. Mid 90's with a superb breaking ball. i might be the only person here who thought that this was a decent trade for the Sox. Regardless of wether the trade ultimately works out or not, this kid deserves a few positive comments.
  22. makes sense 90 throws - good game!
  23. Maybe Davis and that's it? We'll see.
