  1. he hit 95 early- I'm sure that he is tired. If he does come back out there, I hope it is a very short leash.
  2. 6 innings - 3 hits - 0 runs I'm feeling good for him.
  3. Hey - did I just hear that buck snort just left a game due to injury? if I heard right - really that gd medical and training staff from boston must have struck again.
  4. He looks one s*** load better than good so far.
  5. I'm not sure that they are any worse than those of any other team. I really only follow us in any great detail.
  6. I think that it is notable I just don't see it as being a negative thing in any way. Pitching is so unpredictable that more often than not it is a case of being damned if you do or don't. Sale is for sure an ace. I bet we all agree on that one. As much as I like Porcello, I'm not going to say that that signing was a stroke of genius. Who knew that we had a potential MVP with that sign. I don't know whether DD will wind up proving to be better or worse than anyone else who has done his job. What I do know, is that I like a GM who addresses needs and isn't afraid to make moves that he thinks will give his team a chance to win.
  7. I really was just kidding around. i really only truly follow the Sox but my bet would be that every major league franchise fights with similar issues.
  8. It has to be because of the Red Sox shoulder strengthening program! it has even affected Espinoza way over on the left coast. Damn Red Sox medical and training staff. There are too many of them to begin with. Too many to count on opening day.
  9. I wonder if somebody can blame DD for this one. Maybe he should have traded him ? I think that it is a crapshoot with any pitcher. The one prospect I am going to miss watching develop is the one that I think could become a true superstar - Moncada. He is off to a red hot start in AAA. I say this but I am very happy we acquired a true ace in Sale! Good to see Devers off to a good start as well.
  10. yes you have mentioned that by the way!!! I think that I am beginning to be contrary just for the sake of it. I would love nothing more than to see Pomeranz come back and pitch well. For the Red Sox sake of course but also for Pomeranz and so that I could have a good laugh.
  11. I hope that all of our former prospects do well. Franchises that are moving forward not backward know that you can't keep them all. You have to use all means available to build a championship team. if they turn out to be real good, they may even return home someday.
  12. bon appetite - someone still has to shoot the little sob's. Greasy too. I'd put the odds of anyone here snagging 1 for you right up there with the likelihood of Pomeranz pitching a complete game shutout so you should be ok either way. lol
  13. I missed today's game. Hernandez with 3 hits and Leon doing what he keeps on doing. not bad for the proverbial utility guy and our fat little backstop. i'm one good game from Pomeranz away from being fan fanatical. Let's go.
  14. this is the second time that I have read about someone offerring to eat crow if they were wrong. it is a safe bet because i am thinking that no one on this board has a clue about how difficult it would be to harvest one. I do and I am pretty sure that you can't-lol. Heres to Pomeranz!
  15. Clay was a frustrating player for a fan to cheer for. When he was on he was an A- but when he was off you get to pick what he was. I always anticipated ace resemblance from him. I've never envisioned such heights for Pomeranz. Middle of the rotation kind of guy to me. If people think that too much was given up for him, so be it. For me, the jury is still out on that one.
  16. He is one of the twins right - 2 little bastards! lol
  17. This is a good post. I don't necessarily agree with you that all "clutch" hitters are great hitters in general, but that is the beauty of having a discussion based around something for which there is no real defining. It has been a good sharing of opinions!
  18. To me it does but I will admit that that very well might be me. I'm not sure whether or not anything can be infinite. Although every piece of scientific data tends to show proof that infinity is for real, who truly knows. I feel the same way about this discussion. There may be overwhelming statistical data to show proof that the concept of what some consider clutch players (whatever that might mean) do not truly exist. No one knows for sure. There are just too many variables.
  19. Since I believe that there are among us athletes that can appear very normal who when you least expect them to seem to be able to come up big in big moments, I have to ask this question - to those of you who that this is just not possible, does the concept of infinity vs something finite bother you also? Is there such a thing as infinity? Is it provable? With that being said - your idea of a clutch situation and moment and my idea probably would be quite different.
  20. Joe Kelly may never figure his mechanics out. Something just doesn't seem to click with this guy.
  21. Got to love a third gear. You can actually shift a car without that clutch if you are careful. Don't even have to grind those gears.
  22. great for Margot! Good to see.
  23. I think that I am really going to like this team. Work hard and battle back. under manned today for sure but no excuses. these guys work hard.
  24. This I get - kind of like me pulling for Hernandez. I actually understand and appreciate your stand. You like Vazquez and it isn't a comparison that is data driven. He is young and still might be the guy moving forward. We all want the best catcher that we can have.
