  1. Emp - i even watched the boys do their little jig in the outfield last night. I wish that we had more guys who approached the game like Sale does. he is the leader we get to see once a week or so. i still don't like the dance. Maybe if they could wear some sort of costume I would appreciate it more.
  2. Is that what he was doing while taking a crap between innings? I did not know that. I'm still probably going to go with stupid because I never heard that other story.
  3. i was going to mention Ted. He was just tough enough to take it and throw it right back at them. To begin with, all these guys have targets on their backs potentially due to the ridiculous amounts of money they are payed to entertain us. One of the reasons why I could care less about how much money henry has to pay or how much over the luxury tax he goes. unless Price starts pitching very well again or makes a public apologetic plea to the media (social and otherwise), he isn't likely to last here. Good for us - right?
  4. Perhaps because Kelly pitched last night, he wasn't available. i'm going to suggest that it isn't all that important to designate a 7th inning guy and an 8th inning guy. I don't think that these guys care as much about that type of routine as we do. they have an idea as to when they are most likely to pitch.
  5. Hitting any pitcher for the most part.
  6. anybody up in that bullpen? should be
  7. he can't make a mistake - he tiring right now?
  8. Ok - I didn't say it and I really don't scour the postings normally to learn who said what. I do think that it is safe to say that none of the people who have played third for us this year really hit well enough to play third for us though. I probably would have said something like Marrero, Rutledge, and Sandoval don't hit well enough to really play anywhere for us. traditionally thinking here though, I'm still ok with looking for a little power from the guys who play both third and first. I think that I know where you are coming from though and if you have a team that has legit run producers I don't think that it makes much difference where they play. We just don't have legit run producers in the lineup and third base for boston has a big vacancy sign on it. It would be nice if whoever ultimately fills the position for us could hit ml pitching.
  9. glad sale pitches for us - reason to watch!
  10. i think that many of us might have though and said as much that he was stupid. When he was sitting (not a pun of any sort) on the can between innings last year texting, i think that most of us thought that maybe we weren't dealing with the sharpest tool in the shed. He might be stupid. i'm ok with that. if his attitude is good and he works to get the job done, then he is coachable. To date, he really hasn't done much to alter my thinking. i'm thinking he might be stupid and possibly even a little uncoachable. That is a combination that probably can't be fixed.
  11. Spud - come on - he really is a second baseman - good glove - good production for a second baseman. lol Sadly it looks as though we have lots of second basemen.
  12. i was a Shaw fan from the beginning
  13. You are right Notin to a point. It is important to have some power on your team somewhere i think. You can get away with it for sure at first and third. We have been putting small 2nd baseman in this position. It is a stopgap thing to do. Also, doesn't look like it is working. Good hands and good footwork along with a powerful arm are things that good third basemen need to have. great range - not really - good reaction time yes for sure. On a team with liimited hitting and power, putting typically second basemen and shortstops at third might not be the way to go.
  14. I would be very surprised if Pablo gets another real shot. I'm not sure he has even had one yet. What they were doing with him before his latest breakdown does not really constitute much of a shot.
  15. They continue to try to turn their lightweight middle infielders into third basemen. They are redefining the concept of stopgap measure.
  16. I wish that he could still play a little outfield. he would look good as a part of our dance troupe . lol
  17. his last outing was pathetic.
  18. the parents continue to create the issues - good intentions but boy oh boy.
  19. You are just being a little too serious for me. I read the same stuff that everyone else does about these prospects. I see the same stats that everyone else does. I probably don't place the same value in what I read that some do. I tend to be a visual guy. I have to see them first I guess before I hit them with the "next coming " stick. Potential is one thing for sure but at some point you actually have to accomplish something.
  20. Slasher - You got another Espinoza on that 11 and under team that we can draft? (just kidding with you - seriously I don't think I would have pulled the trigger on that one either
  21. Who did we trade Pomeranz for again? Oh I know - it was the teenager who all the scouts say that someday(???) is going to be Pedro reincarnate. I don't really miss him yet. I'm glad that that Pomeranz has been giving us something.
  22. I hope that you are right about Ramirez. i actually haven't seen a whole lot written about his attitude this time around. I'm sure that he has matured somewhat from his Portland days when he really was not wanted in the system. Personally, my expectations have never been particularly high with regards to him. We need a bat, if he provides it it would be great. I won't be surprised one way or the other.
  23. I'm seeing words like unbelievable and horrible just thrown around here. Those are all very relative terms. I liked Shaw through it all last year. A big (as in good sized third baseman) with power. Giving up on him is kind of like the way people tend to give up yearly on JBJ. Pomeranz was another bum too I guess until just recently. Horrible and unbelievable are the types of third baseman that have been yarded out to that position since the trade of Shaw. Fatso and the midget brigade. Eventually DD will get it right. They gave up too early on Shaw it kind of looks like.
  24. When you say that this team is underperforming what do you mean? I agree that we should be getting more from Betts. I'm not so sure about Ramirez. You know me by now. I don't place the same significance in what they did last year as you do.
