  1. She is starting to chum the waters and is getting a few bites!
  2. Wow - I guess third base isn't the issue people think it is either if you like this perspective. 0 problems in bean town. Hell - add one more hitter and a real third baseman - what do you think? 100,105, 110 wins - the sky is the limit.
  3. He really has never been in particularly good shape. Good shape for him maybe but lets be real about physical fitness. He is likely to never be the face on the poster. He is very close to being gone. Unless I have misinterpreted something, Farrell has said that he will not play when we face a lefty on the mound and he is likely not to play when we have a lefty going for us. it would compound his poor work defensively. Let me see - Sale, Price, Pomeranz, E-Rod, Johnson (all lefties). He might be playing third base one day per week if he is lucky. He is taking up a roster spot for no real good reason. Only the money. He will be gone very soon one way or another.
  4. Even though I have defended Pomeranz on many occasions, i still don't like what he has given us to date much. he might be a little soft as you say but I'm not sure that he really is much softer than E-Rod.
  5. I have been called an old schooler. I don't think of myself as one actually though. The impression that I have gotten from many of the discussions here is that if you are not accepting of all things data related then you must be old school with outdated ideas. That in my way of looking at things is saying that if you don't agree with someone elses perspective on issues totally then you are wrong. I have never looked at things this way. Normally there are many ways to looks at any issue. No compromise doesn't work for me. In today's world. I think that wanting to compromise might mean that you are outdated. Right or wrong with no in between. I still pretty much believe that the majority of people who actually play the game are form the "old school" way of looking at baseball in general. That works for me.
  6. I'm guessing that you mean very good shape for him. He certainly appeared to make some gains but his fitness level has been one of the primary reasons for his inability to play third base for us or for anyone. Even with that though, I still wish that they would just stick him out there and leave him alone for a couple of weeks. Either he gets it done or he doesn't, then you make the decision. I do not think that that this jerk jerk method of playing anyone works.
  7. Sale is a throwback kind of guy. no ******** - just play - give me the ball
  8. All Judge has to do is make contact. he is huge, athletic , and powerful. No juice required.
  9. Aj talking about the red seat - I sat beside it - I'm not worthy to sit in it. yes, Ted hit it to the red seat. People who can't believe it never saw the greatest hitter of all time swing the bat!
  10. it's a couple of buds for me. I'm happy when we win for sure but I can't help thinking that we just look like a small team in general comprised of a bunch of pretty good little singles hitters. Our size looks like Mooreland, Sandoval, and Ramirez and that does not impress me. I'm a little concerned that if our good little hitters start thinking that they need to start powering up, they won't continue to hit their singles. We need at least one more power bat in that lineup.
  11. You may be right about Price for sure but thinking Boston is the only place that pressure exists is not. Why is it so hard for some players to play in Boston? We are all just more knowledgable fans you think? We care more about our team than any other city in the country maybe? I don't give a s*** at all if he speaks to the media or tweets about what a wonderful experience playing in Boston is. I just want him to pitch better and if he doesn't want to talk to the media or to me, I'm fine with it.
  12. When Swihart is healthy, he will hit. if he was ready to go now, I would trade Vazquez tomorrow if it meant improving this lineup. We don't really need two catchers that really represent the same thing.
  13. Think what you want about Price and his ability, he still is getting ripped apart by the proverbial Boston media and loyal fan base. Leave him alone. Buckley should never have gone near him. I'm so sick of this ******** about not being able to play in Boston. Do you really have to be some kind of special athlete to be able to play here? You have to be extra tough right?
  14. we need at least one more real hitter - even a guy that just looks like he might be another hitter
  15. Let's go DD - get after it - win yesterday, win today, win tomorrow!
  16. What I had I gave because what I saved I lost always worked pretty well for me. Within obvious reason, you do what you can do to win in the present.
  17. i agree- we need that bat.
  18. Maybe i might agree with you someday if Pomeranz becomes a part time pitcher. His 5 or 6 good innings when he goes out there is starting to look better and better when you factor in Porcello's work lately.
  19. I agree for sure but it can work both ways. Being a little too cute on occasion can work against you.
  20. i certainly don't disagree with this take but why do I sometimes think that he is framing some pitches without needing to? Umpires can be swayed by any subtle movement of a catcher's mitt. On occasion, I have felt that he has moved pitches that were borderline strikes that wound up being called balls simply because of the movement. he can be a little too busy back there.
  21. I think that saying he might be a little to busy is really what I mean to say.
  22. it was a move that made solid baseball sense.
  23. Was it a Pomeranz thing or a Vazquez thing or just me last night with the parade of trips to the mound? I didn't like it. I don't like over catching any more than I like over coaching. I think one of the reasons I like Leon is that it looks simpler to me. He puts a sign down and it just seems like the pitcher tends to throw the ball. Plus the fact that I see 0 difference in their overall abilities or future potential going forward. I don't need flashy just competent behind the plate.
  24. i was just being a wise ass - i was actually referring to Varitek but for the people who didn't see Fisk catch with Boston, they might not have appreciated my attempt at comparative humor. Outside of Fisk, Gedman looked damn good. I loved him. But, what do I know - i grew up with the likes of Russ Nixon, Bob Tillman, Mike Ryan, and jerry Moses. When an aging beaten up Elston Howard came on board, I was never so happy. For the record, Fisk always tops my list.
