  1. I'm with you
  2. I agree with you again - how about that. I'm not sure they can disallow him from social media but the bigger issue here is that he is unique. Like him or not, he is sensitive which I am ok with. It does sound like he is not just a good teammate but a great one. If he takes that ball and gets the job done on his day, I could really care less what all forms of the media think of him. Media in general although necessary does tend to make a circus out of life in an effort to sell stories. You think maybe people should just leave the guy alone?
  3. No disagreement from me there for sure.
  4. When Manny Ramirez was at his best, I am not sure whether I have ever seen a better hitter. I am very sure that I never saw a better right handed hitter.
  5. If Mookie is actually hitting, we would score more with him hitting third. I have no stats to back this statement up.
  6. I get what you are saying but I will continue to wonder who was traded that represented such a great future. No one I would hope would be upset with the trade for Sale. As for all of the other transactions, who were the bona fide blue chippers that we lost? Who were the active minor leaguers who are trending toward becoming stars of the future? I like our future a lot more right now then I did when we had more mediocrity that we traded away. i was a big Shaw fan, but still just mediocrity. if this leads us back to the trade for Espinoza, I'm sorry I'm not with the gang on that one. I agree though that he looked good for a 17 year old kid before he actually started to pitch for real in the minors and before he go hurt.
  7. it would be one thing if the back end of our lineup looked like they could maybe get on base just a little more in the event of Mookie coming up after them. I believe that he should be in the third position in our batting order.
  8. Oh - don't forget - And which knee was it again that is hurting Manny? He swung the bat very well particularly when he wanted to. that's it.
  9. I wouldn't sign any of these guys for just this year if it took anything more than money. Why would anyone do that? It would simply smack of desperation and would make no sense at all for a team leading their division - None! A trade comes with a contract. If it is Moustakis, he is your third baseman going forward.
  10. he would be the only one and I'm not all that sure that he would be that much of a difference maker. It would stabilize things for awhile for sure but would it get us a ticket to the "big show"?
  11. I misunderstood I guess. Thought that I was seeing that Betts was moved into a position where he might knock a few runs in. My mistake.
  12. At least it is good to see Betts out of the lead off spot. Prefer to see him third but oh well.
  13. I would hope that they would not trade anyone for a rental player to finish out this season. You want to trade a Devers or a Chavis - ok - but you better get someone for 3 who has some talent. As long as they are hanging in there, I doubt we see a trade of any magnitude. Who would be that one guy who would make that much of a difference? If he is out there, great go get him but if he isn't sit tight . We are what we are.
  14. That he could do. About it but that he could do.
  15. Yes - but I think that this ownership has done any number of odd things to generate interest. i give them credit for trying. Ramirez was one of the great right handed hitters of all time. I was glad we had him but I can't say that I ever was much of a fan.
  16. This I agree with. Some of our other guys do need to improve for us to be successful. If Betts gets back to the Betts we think he is and if Hanley can give us a second half resembling last years and if we come up with a third baseman who can hit just a little, I would become a happy enthusiastic camper once again.
  17. I have read constantly on here about how these guys are under achieving and should be hitting better. For the most part I just don't see it. Betts yes - based on what he has done, I think it makes sense that we expect more from him going forward. Ramirez - I'm not buying that one. His career has been somewhat up and down. He certainly can hit and might but it would not be all that unusual if this is who he is for this season. Often injured and limited play. As for the rest, it is who and what they are in my opinion. If the pitching holds up, they will compete to the end but I don't expect the bats to suddenly morph into something other than what they are and for the most part have always been. Unless they bring in a hitter, this is the team that we have been dealt. It is possible I suppose that some on here are still expecting Sandoval of a few years ago to suddenly show up as well. I don't but like the rest of you, I will continue to hope for the best.
  18. How about a new thread - the pat myself on the back thread- or - hindsight history- or - I hope you forgot what I really said - lol
  19. Deevers with 2 more hr's tonight in Portland - Chavis with 1 more!
  20. As I recall, Owens was never projected higher than mid-rotation. It would have been wonderful if he could have gotten to that point. He still might I guess but in the meantime he won't be pitching for us and his trade value is greatly limited. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they don't.
  21. Good fans get do overs! lol
  22. He is too tight with Mr. Henry's money. Our owner doesn't mind spending some millions of his billions.
  23. they used to be geniuses - not so much any more - I retired!
  24. You watch out for that cliff! When he moves Devers for "Moose", it will be here sooner than you had planned!
