  1. I have no problem with what you are saying here either. The but is, who gets to say what proper value is? When is thinning the farm not depleting it? Much of it hinges on personal perspective.
  2. for the most part I agree with you here. If you can get a proven young player for a prospect, what's not to like? Shout out for my boy Pom Pom. Glad I have stuck with him. At his age, I liked the trade then and I like it more now.
  3. I just find it stunning that he didn't go to his 7th inning guy followed closely by his 8th inning guy. A good starting pitcher is going to put some of these guys out of work. Pretty soon it will be written into a player's contract designating the innings that they will be pitching during games. l o l - It is becoming a joke!
  4. really - we going down this path ! one of my students = Ben Dover I had a teacher in the early 60's = Ima Hoar
  5. Slasher love for my boy Pom Pom gets it done. Sign this boy up for a few more years.
  6. Is it imperative that they do?
  7. Pomeranz is starting to feel the love from the Slasher. Good Pom tonight !
  8. You wouldn't need more than one - that would save some of John Henry's $. All 3 of our guys could fit in an average sized NFL player's jersey! lol
  9. For the record - I get the fact that nothing really is limitless and that would include John Henry's budget. I do have to laugh though when so many say so much about something they know so little about. I have no clue what John Henry is thinking when it comes to handling any part of his payroll dealing with any aspect of the Red Sox. Henry's budget is limitless when compared to mine which ain't to0 bad. It is just an expression that I have used and will continue to use. Mr. Henry is no idiot but if he was as concerned about accounting for his $ the way some of you think he is, he likely would never have allowed the people working for him to throw it wastefully around the way they have. What in his past dealings with this franchise would lead anyone to believe that he is now going to be seeking a do over? It really sounds like we have numerous people here who are trying to get him to alter his spending habits. Good luck with that!
  10. I think that we certainly do contribute to the success or failure of certain players. I'm with you on Price. I like him. The contract really doesn't bother me because it doesn't appear to really bother John Henry much. i wonder if he laughs at us when we squawk and holler about the Red Sox going over their limitless (non existent?) budget.
  11. Emp - i even watched the boys do their little jig in the outfield last night. I wish that we had more guys who approached the game like Sale does. he is the leader we get to see once a week or so. i still don't like the dance. Maybe if they could wear some sort of costume I would appreciate it more.
  12. Is that what he was doing while taking a crap between innings? I did not know that. I'm still probably going to go with stupid because I never heard that other story.
  13. i was going to mention Ted. He was just tough enough to take it and throw it right back at them. To begin with, all these guys have targets on their backs potentially due to the ridiculous amounts of money they are payed to entertain us. One of the reasons why I could care less about how much money henry has to pay or how much over the luxury tax he goes. unless Price starts pitching very well again or makes a public apologetic plea to the media (social and otherwise), he isn't likely to last here. Good for us - right?
  14. Perhaps because Kelly pitched last night, he wasn't available. i'm going to suggest that it isn't all that important to designate a 7th inning guy and an 8th inning guy. I don't think that these guys care as much about that type of routine as we do. they have an idea as to when they are most likely to pitch.
  15. Hitting any pitcher for the most part.
  16. anybody up in that bullpen? should be
  17. he can't make a mistake - he tiring right now?
  18. Ok - I didn't say it and I really don't scour the postings normally to learn who said what. I do think that it is safe to say that none of the people who have played third for us this year really hit well enough to play third for us though. I probably would have said something like Marrero, Rutledge, and Sandoval don't hit well enough to really play anywhere for us. traditionally thinking here though, I'm still ok with looking for a little power from the guys who play both third and first. I think that I know where you are coming from though and if you have a team that has legit run producers I don't think that it makes much difference where they play. We just don't have legit run producers in the lineup and third base for boston has a big vacancy sign on it. It would be nice if whoever ultimately fills the position for us could hit ml pitching.
  19. glad sale pitches for us - reason to watch!
  20. i think that many of us might have though and said as much that he was stupid. When he was sitting (not a pun of any sort) on the can between innings last year texting, i think that most of us thought that maybe we weren't dealing with the sharpest tool in the shed. He might be stupid. i'm ok with that. if his attitude is good and he works to get the job done, then he is coachable. To date, he really hasn't done much to alter my thinking. i'm thinking he might be stupid and possibly even a little uncoachable. That is a combination that probably can't be fixed.
  21. Spud - come on - he really is a second baseman - good glove - good production for a second baseman. lol Sadly it looks as though we have lots of second basemen.
  22. i was a Shaw fan from the beginning
  23. You are right Notin to a point. It is important to have some power on your team somewhere i think. You can get away with it for sure at first and third. We have been putting small 2nd baseman in this position. It is a stopgap thing to do. Also, doesn't look like it is working. Good hands and good footwork along with a powerful arm are things that good third basemen need to have. great range - not really - good reaction time yes for sure. On a team with liimited hitting and power, putting typically second basemen and shortstops at third might not be the way to go.
  24. I would be very surprised if Pablo gets another real shot. I'm not sure he has even had one yet. What they were doing with him before his latest breakdown does not really constitute much of a shot.
