  1. I like - I thought Umbrage umped the game Sale pitched the other night!
  2. I have to admit that when he was signed I was a happy guy. I thought it would work. It didn't. Actually it kind of looks like one of the worst signings in Sox history. The money that he made and the money that he took with him is obscene. I'm only a small voice but I owe this dub nothing. He is likely laughing at us as he heads toward the bank. Good for him - Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. A sad story but I don't feel sorry for him and anything that anyone says about him is likely not going to bother me much.
  3. I kind of have come to the conclusion that with this little bunch it really doesn't matter where any of them hit. You never know though when you are going to get an accidental HR!
  4. I know!!!
  5. That's not all that bad a watch.
  6. The arguement against going after someone like Frazier would be that even if he provided an upgrade over what we currently send out there to third, it would likely not really be much of a difference maker. Trading anyone for him so that he could play the position for the rest of this season just doesn't seem to make any sense. He ain't that good.
  7. 8 times they have been shut out this season - really
  8. Don't remember Workman ever throwing this hard.
  9. danny - didn't we need a third baseman when we did this deal as well? See ya later Sparky.
  10. 19 innings and 0 runs - gag - lightweights
  11. I really hope that we don't make a trade for a one year rental at third base. It would cost us players and for what? I just don't see a player like Frazier being able to take us anyplace that our little bunch of lightweights can't. It might make the third base situation look better for this year but how much better is the question? I don't think that much.
  12. I'm pretty sure that my memory does embellish the remembrances of my past. A few months ago I was set straight with respect to Freddie Lynn. I guess I just (miss) remember things. I like it better that way though. We are very fortunate that we saw some of the truly great players in the organization's history play and regardless of what the statistics say and regardless of how much I do like our current outfield, for me they still rank third on my all time list. For some who saw Williams and D. Dimaggio play, I bet they rank fourth. That still isn't bad but we were very fortunate to see the best play out there.
  13. I just saw some of the old footage from 67 again and I had forgotten not only how good Scott was but how good he looked for a big man. Fit and strong. and speaking of unique names, how about this one - true story. Local legend in these parts Mr. Doobey named his first born daughter Anita!
  14. I fully understand what you are saying. When I say that the franchise has no budget, I don't really mean it. I think that whatever it might be, it is clearly too high. It drives me crazy. I lived with this team through some very lean years obviously so i am not disappointed with the product that we are putting on the field but I also am not naive enough to think that the extreme amount of money being thrown at these athletes isn't the primary reason. I wish that I could honestly look at the franchise and think that we have been successful because we have been doing all of the little things that have to be done better than everyone else. I can't say that and truly that bothers me.
  15. I think that with respect to the "pride idea" here you are absolutely right. No one wants to think that we are becoming the King George led Yankees.
  16. I'm sorry Moon but when I read this concern from posters here about this team going over the "luxury" tax, I just can't help but laugh. I wonder if Henry reads this? Craig, Castillo. Sandoval, ... That is my idea of luxury! Being able to literally throw hundreds of millions of dollars away and still have a fan base that thinks you are trying to stay with any budgetary constraint. It is really funny. Most don't get their wealth by throwing it away. In some respects I actually liken it to Farrell's strict adherance to all things statistically prescribed when putting his team on the field. But, alas, I seem to be outdated.
  17. No self respecting monkey would have allowed himself to get this fat and go out in public. Whoops - Is that fat shaming? sorry King Kong maybe on our backs!
  18. Your opinion. I don't think that they wanted Lester and I just don't know about Scherzer. Your opinion and my opinion. that's it. Most people want to think that they have a legitimate budget. Good for you and everybody else who wants to think this. Throwing what 80-100 million at him to begin with and ultimately dfaing him. lol sorry not much of a budget really in my world.
  19. Yes but understand he is trying to look intelligent by following the bread crumbs the stat masters sprinkle on the ground.
  20. Can you believe these numbskull f***ing Yankees - Judge hitting third - what a joke - not 1,2,4,or 5 but 3rd! Who does that these days? Dinosaurs
  21. Really - that is interesting and it says a lot. If you are going to throw the money at basically entertainers then I guess you have to own it. It was a foolish sign I guess but who has the kind of money that can allow for someone to just say go home to someone still earning millions of dollars? I could give a s*** what fat boy does. Maybe someone else will be so stupid as to sign him. Two things that I take from this - 1. There is no f***ing budget that means anything to these guys. They throw the crap out there and if people want to believe it then so be it. The Red Sox have no real budget. 2. DD has some power possibly and he is an adult playing in fantasy land. It should be a pretty clear message to the other stiffs that were are carrying. The message being if you aren't producing then you aren't playing regardless of the size of your contract. Hanley, are you listening? Are you smart enough to actually understand?
  22. Absolutely right!!! But we are constantly reminded that the Red Sox are reluctant to spend over the luxury tax limit. They must stay within their budget. Not much of a budget if you ask me. Hanley doesn't start producing he will be the next one to go.
  23. It is beginning to look like moving Devers up is going to happen. The release of Peralta gives him a ticket to AAA. I'm just not sure that that is a far enough move up but it will do for now I guess.
  24. Just imagine what we would hear if Groome was moved for anyone. We traded a teenager for a pretty good starting ml pitcher and people are still pissed about it. I agree with the old apple and the tree for the most part. I feel kind of sorry for my own kids. I think that they need to be very vigilant with a young guy like Groome.
