  1. No need to panic here. The Yankess made a move - good for them. Bringing Frazier in for a couple of months is what we were looking at. Not worth the cost! If the Yankees and their fans think that this might push them over the top, good for them. To date, every move DD has made like them or not, can be justified. Some have worked out and some haven't. That is the way it goes. I am amazed at the number of people who have constantly preached patience here but yet have been willing to give up assets for a few months of potentially sub par offense. DD gets it - give him the time he needs.
  2. I certainly do but from what I have read, many seemed to think that if Dom had been in center, Enos would have settled in at third.
  3. I think that he is an mvp caliber player as well. What you will specifically get from him year in and year out is the question. He would be my number one to sign as well. As much as I like the rest of the foursome, I would not commit big $ to any of them for some time.
  4. Oh I think that you are right about the 30 being the new 20 sadly. As for the other stuff - there are easier ways to make the millions. you could move up here and sell legal Marijuana for instance. LOL
  5. My feelings about trying to retain all of - Betts, Benintendi, Bradley, and Bogaerts - are starting to change. If it could be done at a resonalbly competitive cost then maybe. I think that we are likely seeing what Bradley and Bogaerts are going to be going forward. As much as I like them, I think that they quite possibly can be replaced with players of equal talent and value. With Benintendi and Betts I think the jury is still out as to what we might be looking at down the line. If keeping them all comes at the expense of signing players that could help us in other ways and in other areas, it just might not be ultimately worth it.
  6. For a team that is just petrified of ever going over the luxury tax (that is just humorous sarcasm), 20 mil is a long way from 30 mil.
  7. I'm all done with this old school vs new school though. For me it really is the common sense school. I think that our current GM gets it.
  8. It can be for sure it seems but if taken the right way, it provides a great source of spirited humor!
  9. I've always wondered if Dom. D was in centerfield on that particular day, Ted would have gotten the title that he deserved.
  10. Oh Henry - At some point in time, the Owens experiment has to end one way or another. It just doesn't look too promising.
  11. I'm betting that DD sees what most of us are seeing right now. Trading Shaw and really counting on Sandoval - did not work. Betting on Ramirez to have another very productive year and Moreland to hit and field adequately to make up for the loss of Ortiz's big bat in the heart of the order, has not worked. If all of the other little bats in the lineup were producing better than they ever have, then probably the runs would come. I think that this pitching staff is going to get us the east but going forward one way or another we will see some different run producers coming through.
  12. I'm with you for the most part. Although I think that we are fortunate to have the outfield that we have in may respects, I don't think I would go nuts over signing any of them long term right now. I kind of think that Bradley looks like the Bradley we can expect to have going forward. As for Benintendi and Betts, I don't know. If anybody is going to get between 20 and 30 million I'm thinking that that ought to be giving more at the plate. Good solid players but Trout like getting Trout like money, I don't think so. They need some bigger and better bats in the heart of that order - 3,4 and 5.
  13. first , dh, and third - I agree. Ultimately they will get those positions filled by real hitters. Ramirez might still factor in there but as for Moreland and the cast of utility players being used at third things will change. Maybe not this year but next for sure. Not only is it unlike most Red Sox teams of the past, they just can't get it done. The pitching staff in general has been outstanding and probably will continue to get better. We need hitters with the ability to hit the ball over the fence. It might not happen this year but our lineup is likely to look a little different next year.
  14. Do you remember that 1946 team?
  15. I like - I thought Umbrage umped the game Sale pitched the other night!
  16. I have to admit that when he was signed I was a happy guy. I thought it would work. It didn't. Actually it kind of looks like one of the worst signings in Sox history. The money that he made and the money that he took with him is obscene. I'm only a small voice but I owe this dub nothing. He is likely laughing at us as he heads toward the bank. Good for him - Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. A sad story but I don't feel sorry for him and anything that anyone says about him is likely not going to bother me much.
  17. I kind of have come to the conclusion that with this little bunch it really doesn't matter where any of them hit. You never know though when you are going to get an accidental HR!
  18. I know!!!
  19. That's not all that bad a watch.
  20. The arguement against going after someone like Frazier would be that even if he provided an upgrade over what we currently send out there to third, it would likely not really be much of a difference maker. Trading anyone for him so that he could play the position for the rest of this season just doesn't seem to make any sense. He ain't that good.
  21. 8 times they have been shut out this season - really
  22. Don't remember Workman ever throwing this hard.
  23. danny - didn't we need a third baseman when we did this deal as well? See ya later Sparky.
