  1. Once again, I don't disagree with really anything that you have said here but I'm going to hold the line I'm walking on all the way - This was a story that we did not need to know anything about. It became news because it was not handled properly from the beginning. Management gets a big fat 0 for the way they handled this one. Everyone is in an uproar and no one other than the people on the plane no the real facts of the story.
  2. Why was this not handled from the inside? Why do we have to be privy to this?
  3. So very accurate and with the right person in charge such an easy fix. Sorry Johnny - it ain't you babe. The inmates are officially in charge.
  4. I just have to find a cliff up here to launch myself over. I can't take it anymore. Whatever shall I do? LOL
  5. Can you imagine the s--- storm we would be having if he was fat too!!! That would be great.
  6. I am with you 100% on this. If this is really a factual story then I would think that Farrell will be fired. Almost anyone who has ever coached and been in charge knows how much control they actually have. In the asylum, someone must be in charge. If someone is acting like a fool, they need to be told that - benched or traded if it continues. There really doesn't seem to be much respect being shown for any type of authority here because there really has been no obvious authority figure. I liked how Farrell appeared to give Pomeranz hell a while back - he deserved it. Look what he has done since. One thing I think I know though is that if Price was pitching tonight NESN's ratings would be right where they want them to be for a change. I wonder if Shaugnessey would have been paid a little more by them for what his story has done. (easy - my idea of a joke)
  7. Couple things here for me. Eck is a big boy not some soft little no counter old guy. We all it seems love him. He has a job and he is doing it. I would be absolutely stunned if this old guy (what a joke that is) is bothered much by this one. Oh and I'm pretty sure that Mr. Rice would have his back for him if need be. Neither David Price nor anyone else (yes even our current strong man Hanley) is going to intimidate many people and certainly not Eckersley. Secondly - oh my goodness - David Price might get booed tonight. How awful. I wish that he would shut his mouth but if pitches lights out - oh well maybe another story will come along that can get all blown out of proportion so that more people might have an interest in this group of little guys.
  8. It has gotten to be a ridiculous non event. Everything that I read about it yesterday said that Eck was owed an apology and that he got it. I never got the impression that Kennedy was speaking for Farrell or Price. For himself and upper level management. Reading the latest headlines and just the the headlines seem to indicate that he thinks Farrell and Price should apologize. I don't think that that was what he said. I think that you are right on about someone trying to actually drum up some interest in an otherwise uninteresting team. I don't think that media cares at all whether the report is accurately reported or not. Create some news - that is it. ******** - just play ball. Eck is a big boy - He can handle this just fine.
  9. Just out of curiosity, who those 6 other guys? You've got some info we would all love to have shared.
  10. Sadly i guess he is becoming somewhat of a joke. Blah blah blah is all I hear from him. They need a leader and it should be the one in charge.
  11. the second report can be read from the weei website.
  12. heard it on the radio
  13. c'mon - sarcasm
  14. They could trade them all save Sale and Kimbrel and I'd be ok with it. It is a joke.
  15. Second report today, took it back. Pedroia evidently wasn't even close. A weird story getting weirder.
  16. Not so fast - the first report said that he was much a part of it. The second said he was nowhere near and said nothing. I'll just say what I said earlier - were they all even on the right plane. Maybe even a Price look-a-like. Write a story - if it sells and somebody thinks that it is just filled with with good honest journalism, good for them.
  17. No doubt! but he still might be the best of the bunch. Oh and for the record - I'm the guy who doesn't give a squat about the red sox luxury joke (I meant to say tax) - they were numb enough to sign these guys in the first place. Simply releasing chubby tells me that 50 or so million doesn't really mean much to them. I'm not for bringing him up but he would be ahead of Brentz on my pecking order.
  18. Price might very well see himself as a team leader here and if he actually is it is a sad sad story.
  19. +1 on this one - he is a card carrying member of the Boston media
  20. You are right of course in a perfect world everyone would respect everyone and their opinions and we would just all get along. I taught for awhile and I did have to deal with students, other teachers, Parents, admiinstrators, and fellow coaches. I don't think I ever used the f world when defending myself or criticizing them but I'm not buying into the theory that everybody plays nicely and if you don't you are just awful. IMO - a color analyst who is expected to report honestly about what he sees without soft peddling should not travel on the team plane. The world really isn't all that nice. Now I will also say that this whole story is a non-story. One in which we really don't know what was said, who said what, and who cheered who. Early today it was reported that Pedroia was cheering Price on loudly. It has since been rescinded. Maybe it wasn't even Price on the plane. Maybe it was someone pretending to be him. I like reading what Shaugnessey writes but let's remember what his personal goal when writing a story is - to get people to read it! He has never been above a little embellishment from time to time. Once again I'm not defending Price - I don't like him - but I'm not going to rake him over the coals for something that I don't think I ever should have heard about. This looks like a leaderless team to me.
  21. And Rusney Castillo just quietly keeps doing what we need - hit - at the AAA level. He is also hitting a few dingers (not as many as Brentz) but he probably is a much better hitter. It's a shame in a way.
  22. I agree - Farrell talks too much and quite often says very little.
  23. ??? - I get that I need to be very careful here because people will see this as me defending Price which isn't what I am doing. Also, I don't care what Eck says - he entertains me. Your post makes it sound as though he serves in some type of supervisory role for the Red Sox. Unless I am missing something, he doesn't. Whatever he says, he owns and in his particular job I'm pretty sure he understands what comes along with that. This idiotic situation should have been dealt with by the people in charge. Do you or does anyone here really know what was said? Do you or anyone really know who these guys are? How many laughed? Is it maybe just a little possible that this story was written to get people interested in reading it? The boss did need to step in here but whoever we think he is, he didn't. I know nothing about this situation other than what Shaughnessy wrote. You and others here obviously know more than I do. My guess is that there are lot of pretty good guys on that plane who are getting a bad rap for a story that has been blown out of proportion. Once again, although I think that Eck deserves a lot of respect but he is not the boss. Now I don't think that he said anything that should get him called out by anyone but when you do the job he does sometimes it is going to happen if he reports honestly. Do you or anyone else here think that if something like this happens at the Patriot's training camp, we will ever hear about it? I bet not!
  24. Your arguement has been the same as mine and others for quite a while. It was and is a common sense arguement.
