  1. I'm a very fickle fan. I really don't care to watch many teams other than the ones I care about. I never really saw this kid play for any extended period of time. I have now. There is really nothing that I dislike about him. I hope that with his help we get to see some of the gaps in the rafters filled!
  2. Was Lambier the one Ainge bit?
  3. I've been sitting here with my son-in-law this morning talking about the nba in general (he gets it by the way). When the kids who never saw the "old guys" play like to say that they couldn't play in today's nba I just have to laugh. They really have no idea. Can you imagine Maravich in today's game? How many points might he have scored? Russell's 11 rings! This Celtics team is a throwback team for me. I'm saying it again too - Cousy is the only point guard that Irving reminds of. That is damned good company. We have our memories.
  4. He has a rifle for an arm. A big league third baseman's arm.
  5. I'm beginning to think that I might be old.
  6. Mel counts Actually just kidding - Baynes is possibly one of the more under rated big men of this era. I still can't think of even a banged up Walton being anybody's backup. God was he good.
  7. Look what I got going thee by simply mentioning Dever's footwork. I done good - lol!
  8. Win is a win. 10 - 2 with a banged up lineup. Walton when healthy was one of the best who ever played the game. Baynes is a little more like Wayne Embry. Remember him?
  9. You are assuming something that might just not happen. His thick lower half has nothing to do with his possibly growing out of the position. Gaining weight as we age does not need to happen. For the record - not sure I'm buying anything that you are selling. If he is lazy and gets fat, you might be right. It is more than simply footwork though - it is also about fitness.
  10. If Devers new instructors can't figure out that it is a footwork issue then they suck. He has the glove and the arm to be solid in that position. Since I don't subscribe to the cliff theory at all, I see 0 sense of urgency with respect to this kid playing third for us going forward. I wonder if the analytical geniouses have a way to measure the productivity of just his footwork?
  11. Unbelievable really!
  12. Average Al is out (what a f***ing joke that little attempt at a nickname was). Defensively ( which honestly still is what it's all about) IT ranked almost dead last in the NBA. Teams just took advantage of him. Other than Cousy, I really can't think of another point guard to compare Kyrie to. Scores, assists, defends, leads! Works for me.
  13. You won't miss him too much longer! It is likely that that he is back in action sooner than expected.
  14. so sad - and what you said is so true
  15. I really agree with you here. It has been a long long time since we have seen a point guard like this guy in Boston.
  16. I agree - IT was a good story. He did a lot for us. We now have a legit super star playing the point for us and he is just 25.
  17. You certainly can. He knows how to play. After seeing him against San Antonio, I thought that he might wind up getting pushed around a little bit. Not so! He gets great inside position and he goes after the boards.
  18. Might be an unusual thing for me to say but I really never suffered at all through all of those ever so close years. 86 hurt badly because I truly felt that we were the best of the bunch. It has always been about the season for me. i ran marathons and i believe that the baseball season is much like running one of those. it is about patience and just hanging in there - gutting things out. Winning championships is a fortunate bonus that came along for all of us to enjoy. Boston is the city of champions as far as I am concerned. I actually love the experience of the season much more than I do the playoff season to be honest with you. You have to get there first before you can win though. That is probably why I don't get too engaged when the talk turns to who performs better or best when the playoffs start. I will always take my chances with the guys who can get us there. I'm enjoying the Celtics right now but I will anxiously await the beginning of spring training. I like the cycle.
  19. I think that your description sounds about right.
  20. it's Lary dontcha know - or we think it is anyway
  21. I've watched all or parts of every game which is pretty rare for me. It's a team that has the potential to get better. I think that in terms of talent, it really is a better team from top to bottom than any they have had for a while. They stay involved defensively for 48 minutes - pretty rare in the NBA. I don't think that they lay over the field by any means but they ain't bad. It will be interesting to see where Okafor winds up.
  22. I'm sorry if it seemed veiled. That was not my intention.
  23. Believe it or not Yankee fan this one wasn't necessarily directed at you. A lot of talk about Moncada here - most of it was negative with respect to what he could give us. I saw him play and still believe that he will be a star.
  24. I'm calling massive ******** talk about Moncada and his value to our team going forward. I was and still am a big Moncada fan. He still might be the one. There are extremely few people posting here who saw any value in keeping Moncada and it had nothing to do with any concept of someone being inured in the future. This board almost to a person felt that he was and probably still is an over rated prospect. A virtual K machine who wasn't going to help us at all. A Yankee fan tells you all how good he could be and all of a sudden it makes people start second guessing trading him for Chris Sale. Interesting!
