  1. I would love to watch a team with Yamo,Monty, Lugo, Duval, and Merrifield as well. Wouldn't that be a great way for JH to spend his money. In reality though, based on what we have seen, what are the chances?
  2. Does it matter? i guess that it kind of looks as though if you want the best, you are likely going to have to pay for it.
  3. Maybe other teams aren't as up on the prospects that we apparently have developed over the past few years. Is it possible that they collectively just aren't as good as advertised?
  4. It looks to me as though some of the wealthiest owners are more interested in winning than in spending sleepless nights in worry about budgetary constraints. It is nice when someone finds the classic "diamond in the rough" but in general you win with better players and sometimes as we have seen you have to pay for them. I understand that the Red Sox do in fact spend but I'm beginning to wonder if they are spending their money wisely.
  5. So Verdugo is gone because of the primary reason that he and Cora just weren't seeing eye to eye. I get that . The return for us was pretty puny so we are probably pretty sure that he was shipped out just because. Now we have hired Tip O'neil essentially to take his place. Tell me please that this franchise is going to start to try to play with the big boys again. Oh i know - i'm just one of those spoiled whiny fans but have to say that most of what we have done recently is embarrassing for me anyway. Is this who we are now?
  6. I'm ok with it. wish it was more than link to him. There is work left to do but this would help an are of need.
  7. We have for sure a farm system that has many more young players that come with the "good potential" tag hanging off them then we have seen in some time. We are going to learn a lot in the upcoming weeks what our front office and other front offices think of this untested talent. Either significant trades for actual major league talent will be made or we get to see if all of our hopefuls really are as good as advertised. Breslows moves however minor they might be to date, i kind of like. I think that he knows the types of players he wants and we need. Going to be interesting.
  8. zzzzz... ho hum - Breslow has added some power arms. Maybe a few will become something other than prospects. At the present, I don't see any reason to even be looking forward to next season. I guess maybe we will find out once and for all whether the state of our farm system is any good in reality or not. It is early and it would seem that moves have to be made in order for us to be anything more than what we had last year. Idk - Maybe he hasn't had to field many calls asking about possible trades from our own system because most people don't see their awesome potential in trade.
  9. The one on that list that bothered me the most for sure was Beltre.
  10. I missed that part. I was busy though I guess.
  11. It said to me that he had a far better chance of being in Boston as opposed to Worcester. Guess it just depends on the way you interpret what some writers write. Maybe even what players you like as well.
  12. C’mon all of you Bobby D haters. How about Coach Cora’s comments about his future. Looks like any fuss over a right handed hitting backup first baseman can be put to rest
  13. My point is that in my opinion the continued addition of the wilcard(s) Cheapens the impact of the regular season.
  14. With the addition of the wild card coming in to play in general, I think that it cheapens the impact of what happens during the regular season. It's all good for sure if anyone's plan is to "make the playoffs", I just think that winning the division and being the absolute best that you can be should be the goal.
  15. Now you have crossed the line! lol
  16. Having Bichette at second base would make me forget about an error now and then. To be the best you need to have the best.
  17. Most of the "shortstops" were at one type likely - pitchers, catchers, infielders and outfielders as well. Many professional teams drool over the opportunity to draft young catchers and bring them along in the way they want them to be brought along. But lest we forget many of those "young catchers" have also been shortstops, pitchers, etc. They are the best players on the team.
  18. Trout ain't a member of the totally walking wounded just yet. He could play half the games that most play and still out produce them. Everyone wants to have "more reliable" players but calling Trout "shiny" - no thanks. I want reliable players just like you do but currently I see no one in our outfield that I wouldn't gladly give up to watch this guy play even on a somewhat limited basis. I obviously doubt it happens but I like the thinking and in all honesty I don't think people would go to see him play simply for what he has done in the past.
  19. Trying to find an available quality second baseman would be great I think. As for trading Urias, a good trade I think. Urias is as replaceable as a player can be.
  20. I thought that you would like them. Beats me saying that I'm just a cranky old bastard who doesn't want to be bugged. lol
  21. I'm not sure he would need to play 140 for me. Granted it's a lot of money for someone who has had to deal with being banged up recently. But - and yes it is a big one - It is Mike Trout. I just happen to think that the franchise has to make at least one or two deals like this just to show us that there really is going to be an effort to get things back to where they should be.
  22. I agree with you. It is a lot more fun to talk about this team possibly trying to acquire legit superstars as opposed to watching them walk away.
  23. I'm 73 - I'm Scottish - I'm from Maine. These are just a couple of reasons why you should not change my statements.
  24. I hear you.
