  1. So you just posted it here for a good laugh right.
  2. He might not but for Bogaerts and prospects you just never know.
  3. sounds as though something is starting to happen at least.
  4. I really think that it would be an awesome lineup for quite some time. I'm no real fan of Machados but his power and ability speaks for itself. Martinez, I think is for sure the catch that this team needs. I don't think that it is likely to happen but you never know. Our GM wants to win - yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It is who he is. Baltimore won't be resigning Machado after this season. Most realize that. A deal for either JBJ or Bogaerts and prospects may seem pretty enticing to them. I have no doubt that if the Sox trade for Machado and they want him that they will sign him long term. He is one of the big fish.
  5. oh boy - If he comes away with both Martinez and Machado, the Yankees and their illustrious fan base will be crapping in their hats -lol. Doubt that it happens but you never know.
  6. What is the deal with you and Machado SS? Is this just about him sliding in to Pedroia or do you have something else? I haven't seen anything telling me that he is a bad teammate. I don't think that there is much chance of his coming to boston but no one yet has said anything that convinces me that if it happened even just for year it would be a bad thing. I would prefer his bat and particularly his defense at ss as opposed to Bogaerts. Now if it continues to be Bogaerts, I am actually ok with that as well. I really would never like to see Puig coming to Boston.
  7. Regardless of Puig's abundant talent, he is a boob. We are in the process of eliminating the boobs. No to Puig (kind of looks like that was said by DD some time ago), yes to JD Martinez
  8. Is this quantifiable Moon? (joke) lol - Trying to determine who might be more slimey just seems like a way to pass the time away. My guess is that there is quite a bit of slime in a majority of people involved in all walks of life. Don't have to be rich to be slimey.
  9. Very likely true. Eventually things probably would have caught up with him just not so soon.
  10. I will follow this advice as well. I'm bored and had a weak moment. I need some baseball to talk about.
  11. Well there you go Hitch. What can I say that I haven't already said. And yes you are right - I do believe in saluting the flag and saying the pledge as well.
  12. I'm thinking that Hitch doesn't think that we know things like this - how about you?
  13. bizarre and overly sensitive - why so Hitch? Just a happy American here. I kind of thought that your suggestion that maybe I didn't know that capitalism existed in Europe was just a tad bizarre. I'm glad that you folks think that Canada is such great country.
  14. It is just a sad story for him. A tremendous amount of promise lost. I had no problem at all with giving him a shot at starting. Bard's inability to go back to the pen is all about him.
  15. hey notin I'm with you here but it never made much sense to me that some here have tried to blame everything bad that happened in boston on Larry when he was here as well - some of it might just happen to have something to do with who we like and who we don't when expressing our opinions I guess.
  16. No - are you under the impression that socialism doesn't? It is a personal preference. I'm very proud of where I am from and am happy to be here.
  17. I would call that karma for a Yankee fan. Very likely would not happen though.
  18. You bet baby - but hey, I have no pans to move to any European country.
  19. It is disgusting to many of us how much money good entertainers and entertainment in general costs but I have to say really who gets to judge that. If the demand says that that is what is out there for them, I say God bless them. Plenty of people think that teachers are overpaid as well. Who gets to judge not me. I laugh daily here when i see the people who obsess over what the supposed budget constraints are for John Henry and the Red Sox. We all get to think what we want but henry isn't printing his own. He runs a very successful business and personally I want him to spend his money trying to improve the Boston Red sox. For all of you who think that this is all going to come crashing down, good luck with that. We shall see but i doubt seriously that it happens.
  20. I have had fun reading this thread today. Not a whole lot of baseball to talk about. I guess I was one of the lucky ones - I taught for a long time and I am happy that I did. I grew up wanting to teach and coach. I'm pretty sure that I made a difference. My wife taught as well so we ultimately did ok but we for sure knew what we were getting into. Not much $ but a whole lot of really feeling like you made a difference. My choice was to teach. Could have gone in to administration and doubled my salary - no thanks. A majority of the principals that I worked for could not do my job. Degrees =jobs. I was fortunate to work for some very good dedicated people but there were plenty of dubs in there as well. I would love to see good teachers be paid better but who gets to decide who is good. Administrators? - sorry . Test scores - nope. Advanced degrees - not necessarily. As long as teacher salaries are tied to tax payer dollars it just kind of is what it is. The beauty of this country is that if you are intelligent and are willing to work, which really is the rub these days I'm afraid, then you can just about be what you want to be. I don't begrudge professional athletes one bit - it is capitalism. What I begrudge are the people who want someone elses money that they don't have to work for. My career choice was the right one for myself and my family. Great profession.
  21. good post - i kind of thought that that was the way things worked!
  22. Since everything has to be prefaced these days - here we go - I'm no Machado fan but I really think that the impressions people have of a guy like that would change dramatically if he was playing for us.
  23. If he has a better offer than 5 and 125-150 then he should by all means take it for sure. Now we know what the sox have offered in terms of years but the $ figure remains a mystery. If Boras is in fact working for his client, he will pass on other offers to him as well as to the Red Sox. He knows I think that if they want to the Sox can match any offer out there. I hope that a limit and a deadline have both been set.
  24. I agree with you with respect to how you feel about Machado. I also agree with SS too. The but for me is that I'm not sure that currently we don't already have a few punks playing for us. If we were able to sign Martinez, I would trade Bogaerts and a couple of prospects for him even if it was just for one year. If it worked out, try to sign him. if it didn't so be it. Losing Bogaerts doesn't concern me all that much. As for the prospects - oh well. Part of my feeling this way is that I am absolutely positive that the Yankees would s*** themselves if they thought they had to face that potential lineup when they play. The Sox could then market their new revenue creator - Dirty Dave's special hemorrhoidal cream - Yankee fans would pay a premium for it. They would need it.
  25. I would go as high as 150 but that would be it. 5 years max - like you old-timer, I would set a deadline date as well. I guess the good news is that DD might be doing exactly what we are thinking.
