  1. And they often have a bias toward the highest offer...
  2. All of this is pretty much what I've been saying too.
  3. Not true at all. DD gets blasted regularly whenever our current situation is mentioned.
  4. It's the 'average fan' I'm concerned about. They're the ones who basically foot the bill. The World Series TV ratings were horrendous this year. Of course it's hard to say how much of that is because of COVID and related issues, and how much because a lot less people care about watching baseball anymore.
  5. As I've said before, it's a natural bias. You hope that we're getting and keeping the right ones and trading the right ones. You did open the DD can of worms, though. Actually, that can pretty much stays open. Because some people keep saying over and over that he decimated the farm. But as of right now, only one player he traded has registered a season with an fWAR higher than 2.1.
  6. Age does become a factor though.
  7. Correct, but it is a somewhat different argument, if you really want to get into it.
  8. 1 Sloths 2 Snails 3 2021 MLB Off Season 4 Glaciers
  9. Excellent. We have something new to argue about already!
  10. Of course they didn't.
  11. You're right, except we got these guys for virtually nothing. And Pivetta did have a couple of good games!
  12. Those projections seem pretty reasonable.
  13. When did he become Strange-Gordon?
  14. Yes, it's Pedey Respect.
  15. fWAR Lester 2018 2.0 2019 2.8 2020 0.3 Perez 2018 -0.1 2019 1.9 2020 0.4 If he's better, it isn't by much.
  16. As it turns out, Perez's option was actually for $6.85 million instead of $6.25 million, because of some escalators for innings that he hit - on a pro-rated basis, of course.
  17. Harm, there will be a fairly long list of possibilities when all is said and done. Charlie Morton, Jon Lester, Rick Porcello have been mentioned. And as others have said, Perez could still be signed as a free agent.
  18. Great job, in fact.
  19. "Already danced once" - what does that mean in this context? Cora would still be Red Sox manager if not for his suspension, which of course had nothing to do with his management of the Red Sox.
  20. "Integrative baseball performance" sounds like it came out of a random word generator. It looks even longer next to his short little real name.
  21. I don't have the answer, but Bloom has shown himself to be a patient and meticulous fellow, as in the Mookie trade.
  22. To me it says there's still a huge amount of certainty about COVID-19, which there is.
  23. But as you've suggested, there's not much point in us signing players to only one-year deals. And some other teams will feel the same.
  24. Some players will be more than happy to accept multi-year deals, I think.
  25. I don't understand any of it either LOL
