  1. It's standard procedure to move guys at the deadline when: a) the team is out of playoff contention the player's contract is expiring You'll never be criticized for moving guys under those conditions.
  2. Nicely put.
  3. Are you saying JM didn't have us winning the division from 2016 to 2018?
  4. Beni is a low cost player IMO, at $5 mill AAV. I hope we keep him.
  5. It was a sterling move by Cashman, without a doubt.
  6. You'll be made to pay for continued remarks like these, in some fashion.
  7. I was thinking more like another pitcher and a CF'er putting us over by several million.
  8. And your closer has given up 3 devastating home runs in the last 5 postseasons (one of which was survived by the Cubs). No other closer in history has done anything like this.
  9. When he starts swearing a lot like this, it's a bad sign.
  10. I didn't like it at first, but this German kid seems like a decent prospect, so I like it now.
  11. You mean 'the next time they acquire...' You were around for Papi, Pedroia, Bogey, Sale etc.
  12. This just in: Chaim says staying under the tax threshold is 'not a firm mandate'. I knew it!
  13. Yes, Mr. Hall Monitor. The idea is that if you show 'em enough money, they don't want to play elsewhere.
  14. There's definitely a budget, we just don't know how high it is.
  15. The pitching prospect we're getting is Frank German. Throws hard apparently, up to 98.
  16. Not wanting to pay Mookie $400 million had the biggest effect of all.
  17. Didn't see that coming.
  18. They have enough to retain anyone they want to, but not everyone they want to.
  19. That service time rule has been a sticking point for a long time now. Maybe they should address in the next CBA.
  20. Surely to God we'll sign a reliever with a few saves on his resume...
  21. We can want whatever we like. I want them to go over the threshold, personally. But yeah, it's their call...
  22. Yes, we're in a poor position. But I don't think moving Eovaldi or Richards to closer will do much to fix it.
  23. Realistically, all a Sox fan can ask for this year is a puncher's chance at a wild card spot. A couple more solid additions and we could be there.
  24. That's not the only reason we don't have enough starters. The Yankees are in much the same situation with Kluber and Taillon. They just have a lot more depth than we do.
  25. Why do you guys think we have the luxury of converting starters to closers? We don't have enough starters.
