So many head-scratching moves of all sorts. On defense, they have DJ, a second baseman, playing first, Torres, a second baseman, playing short, and Odor, who should be out of baseball, playing second.

Nobody likes commercials. But they are a big source of revenue, so they're a necessary evil.

To date, Cole has been outstanding, Montgomery has been pretty good, the rest of the rotation has been awful. Their bullpen is fine. Their offense is in a huge funk. Their defense is an abomination.

Something about baseball makes me crazy superstitious. With regard to the 4/4 mojo, after we won a couple I noticed that 4/4 is Groundhog Day (2/2) times two. But I didn't want to mention it and jinx anything.

Yes, but as you say, it might be Cash making these decisions. Nelson said afterward he was informed Thursday night he would be starting on Friday, and he had to remind himself how to prepare. You can't make this stuff up. It's reminiscent of the disaster against the Rays in the playoffs last year when they used Garcia as an opener and then Happ. And Happ afterward said he wasn't really in favor of the idea. It smells like total systemic dysfunction.

Using a middle reliever to open, and against the Rays? Totally bizarre. This team is not being well managed.

There's no such thing as a scheduled doubleheader anymore. They all result from postponed games. So I would have to assume they're all 7 innings * 2. -

Well, they could just replace the Power Rankings with the Actual Current Standings. But that would be a tad redundant.

It's still too early to say. Kluber or Taillon might start to click. They're getting back Severino and Britton. Don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful that they continue to 'underachieve'. The fact that their offensive 'depth' is Bruce and Odor is making me very happy at the moment.

The bottom line is we've been very lucky, winning championships even as Henry keeps changing GM's. Hopefully we'll have some stability now. Supposedly that's exactly why they hired Bloom. Can't knock the 4 titles since Henry took over. That's twice as many as the Yankees and Dodgers combined since then. Nice to see you back here posting BTW.

Vegas would give you odds to bet the Sox finish ahead of the Yanks. If you get decent odds it might be worth a play.

ERA is going to be a flawed stat regardless of whether you're a starter or reliever. A starter's ERA can often be affected by circumstances and managerial decisions. For a recent example you have Pivetta's last start. He had given up 1 run through 5 and the Sox were up 10-1. Cora elected to squeeze another inning out of him, trying to save the bullpen an inning in a blowout. Pivetta gave up 3 in the 6th. If Cora had pulled him after 5, Pivetta would now have an ERA of 0.90. (1 run in 10 innings.) Instead he has an ERA of 3.27. (4 runs in 11 innings.)

I can't argue when all 3 of those former GM's won titles, and the new guy looks like such a good one. It's not like Henry is replacing good guys with bums.

The weather forecasts here are bang on most of the time. They get some storms wrong, but I figure that has a lot to do with us sitting on the Atlantic Ocean...
