    Have some mercy on the Leafs and their fans. They haven't won since 1967. My poor brother-in-law is a Leafs fan, New York Jets fan and Detroit Tigers fan.

    Yes, and having given this much more thought than I should, I believe that Williams's numbers are more impressive because of the absurd .482 OBP. Also, we know now that Yankee Stadium was much friendlier to left handed hitters than Fenway was.

    What this also illustrates is that in small samples, OPS in particular can be a distorted stat because of the inflationary factor. One home run yields an OPS of 5.000.

    It was former Red Sox scout Bob Hamelin who persuaded the team they should grab Whitlock if they had the chance. It was a great move whatever you want to call it: find, gamble... Personally I like to think of it as picking the Yankees' pocket.

    I do think it's reasonable to assume that Bloom will be given the same type of latitude as the other ex-Rays guru Friedman got from the Dodgers, and that he will exercise it.

    Out of the remaining 4, the one with the least innings is Brice at 8. If we didn't have him from Day 1, those innings would likely have gone to DHern, Taylor and Valdez, all at 11.1. Yes, they could have absorbed those innings. But for whatever reason, they wanted to have a look at Brice and the other 3 as well. They knew why they wanted 14 pitchers, and that's all that matters.

    Well, yeah, he's been the only reliable guy in high leverage situations, and Cora has been trying to win games. Whitlock and Andriese have also logged 15.1 innings each, and Ottavino and Sawamura have 13.1 and 13. So 5 guys have been carrying fairly heavy inning loads, especially after the short 2020 season.

    Sorry Max, but this is antiquated thinking. Be happy Barnes is doing a good job, but only because it increases what we can get for him.

    Let's face it, none of those guys are going to be picking up any slack. Anyway, we'll only have Barnes until July. Cora just has to be careful not to burn him out before we can trade him.

    Barnes is on pace for 85 innings. Some might call that overused - abused, even.

    A slightly weird trend is that the Red Sox pitching is so much better on the road. Road 9-4 44 runs allowed 3.39 per game Home 10-9 96 runs allowed 5.05 per game

    The other advantage of trading all these guys, of course, is that we can tank like crazy the last two months and score another high draft pick.
