  1. Confirms what a fine season Vaz had handling the staff.
  2. Yes, that's what I read too. So why not have him only do base calls? Seems simple enough. Having him do balls and strikes every 4th game is like having J. D. Martinez catch every 4th game. It would be incredibly stupid. Why do we let the umpiring be handled in an incredibly stupid way?
  3. Same.
  4. They did sign Bogey to an extension. Sale would be another. Before that you're looking at Pedroia.
  5. Yep, you can't have it all.
  6. I'm surprised you would be willing to invest so much in a minus defender who you think should probably be a first baseman.
  7. Losing him for a draft pick isn't necessarily a disaster.
  8. That should be a reviewable call. More stupidity.
  9. You'd pretty much need a trial.
  10. I used to be a little opposed to robo umps myself. I think Laz Diaz in Game 4 of the ALCS was the final clincher for me. So f***ing absurd to have a hack like that still impacting big games in 2021.
  11. Or a year's supply of Fenway Franks for every year in the contract.
  12. All true, but $300 million for Raffy would be sheer lunacy.
  13. Aside from Kimmi, the resistance to robo umps seems to be an age thing. dgalehouse, Elktonnick, Maxbialystock You guys care to note your ages? I'm 65, but I think all you guys have me by a few.
  14. If we're not going to outbid anyone, I'm not sure how we're going to sign anyone.
  15. I don't disagree. I just don't see any fair way you could determine which players should be punished and how much.
  16. And Devers shouldn't command anything like that.
  17. If ERod declines, he should be given as much consideration as guys like Ray and Stroman.
  18. a) No, it wasn't as bad. Yes, it was clearly against the rules. c) Video operator J. T. Watkins was the only Sox employee punished.
  19. Even better, horses can actually multiply themselves.
  20. Boats, trains, cars, planes - I think they've all had their issues...
  21. Sometimes it takes a change in ownership to really turn a franchise around...
  22. What about Red Sox players who were looking at catcher's signs in the video room in 2018? Think they got off easy too?
  23. No, I was talking about e-passes.
  24. It was not a simple matter, though, because the directives apparently came from the top. Everybody was following orders, Cora included. He made for a convenient sacrificial lamb. When the Red Sox got penalized, the poor guy who operated the video was the only one suspended. As if it was all his idea or something. What a joke that was.
