    If you think momentum in a game is a real thing, you might want to look all the way back to Games 3 and 4 against the Rays. We BLEW LATE LEADS IN BOTH GAMES BUT WE WON THEM BOTH.

    I'm pretty sure the plan was Eovaldi for 1 inning only. It was the same thing Cora did in the 2018 playoffs, using starters for 1 inning on their throw days.

    Whitlock has been so good this year that it's a surprise when he gives up a run.

    Whitlock has been better than Houck. Houck gave up the tying 2-run homer in Game 1 of this series. Whitlock was the correct choice.

    We've had plenty of Red Sox fans complain about not spending enough, too. It's just part of the deal when you're a Yankee or Sox fan.

    What the heck does "shut down ability" mean, exactly? In Game 4 with the Rays (the highest scoring team in baseball), Whitlock came in with a man on second and no outs in the 8th and got 6 outs on 15 pitches.

    Also, the Dodgers and Braves are playing. Someone has to get the early game. They got it yesterday.

    Hal sort of tried to address that payroll to revenue complaint a few years ago, I believe, by trying to put the blame on the Yankees massive debt service costs from the new Stadium.

    A guy on the Yankees forum I visit put up a table showing that in 2018, the Yankees were dead last in the payroll to revenue ratio.

    Every game is a "must win" when you're down to a 2 of 3. Any loss massively reduces your chances of winning the series.

    You should also be looking at payroll as a % of revenues though. I think the Yankees are actually one of the lowest-spending teams by that measure.

    Cashman actually said this in his press conference today: "I hate to say it, but how dare anybody question when somebody commits the amount of dollars" that Steinbrenner has. How dare? Great choice of words there, Brian. It makes him sound like an arrogant stuffed shirt who doesn't give a rat's ass about the fans.
