  1. What? Devers had a .352 OBP this year, not to mention a .538 SLG. And he was only 24.
  2. Yeah, just like age. Some sayings are stoopid.
  3. They got 6 years of Verdugo (3 at minimum pay) for 1 year of Mookie. Some would say that's a win right there.
  4. I suppose they want to get rid of the term ******** too.
  5. Renfroe says hi.
  6. "too short" = strawman If Mookie breaks down it'll be the usual suspects of age and injuries. He did miss 40 games this year.
  7. We "almost" swept the Astros, with the bullpen blowing leads in games 1 and 4.
  8. Yeah, this seems like some pre-judging to me.
  9. The question with Dalbec's bat now seems to be the streakiness. As mvp has alluded to, he was basically shelved in the postseason, presumably because he looked to be in one of his ice cold streaks.
  10. Holy Multiple Metaphors, Batman!
  11. You don't think those great drawn-out dramatic moments of hitters and pitchers muttering and making faces and taking extra time to gather themselves after a perceived bad call are going to be missed?
  12. There was an overturned call in last night's game, at first base. It could have had an impact. The replay didn't take long. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the game, in fact I felt better that they got the call right, even though it went against Atlanta and I was hoping for them. I don't know, I guess we're all just wired differently.
  13. You mean "dead arm, age, $30 million AAV and all."
  14. I expect Scherzer would be looking for at least $30 mill in AAV regardless of the years.
  15. And there have been plenty of instances of umps taking the law into their own hands. If you've been watching baseball a long time, you've probably heard commentators say things like "He better be swinging at this next pitch, if it's anywhere near the plate!" - because the hitter has done something to piss off the ump, and the ump is itching to ring him up...
  16. We may not see anything happen until the new CBA gets done, and that sounds like a big problem in itself.
  17. Austin Riley impresses me.
  18. Some of the umps actually do a good job, of course-as good as is humanly possible, at least.
  19. We'll make sure there's an Eephus Pitch Robot in the package.
  20. Notin's ragging on Duran makes at least as much sense as your ragging on Renfroe. Renfroe made 3.1 million and hit 31 homers and had 96 RBI. We didn't make the postseason without him. He slumped in the ALCS. It happens to many good hitters. I don't mean to pick on you about that. I enjoy your posts. Just disagree about Renfroe.
  21. Robo Umps has transformed into Rock-em Sock-em Robots.
  22. But Kike is one of the good defenders, so that's just random bad luck.
  23. In the final analysis, it wasn't our defense that let us down in the ALCS. If there was anything to blame, it was the offense getting shut down the last 3 games, and the bullpen blowing a couple of leads.
  24. Confirms what a fine season Vaz had handling the staff.
