  1. Being realistic, it's pretty likely that this is Bogey's last season in Boston. If they can keep Devers I think we should be happy with that.
  2. Let's not forget he was also a Boris guy when he signed the relatively team-friendly deal he's playing under right now.
  3. All last year they said that?
  4. Other expert 1: "With Sale out, there wasn't much choice." Other expert 2: "Right, and Houck will still be getting yanked after the second time through the order."
  5. 2022 = The Big Showdown Between Desperate Dave and Patient Chaim!
  6. I actually think that WAR is very beneficial to a player like Bogaerts. Without it some fans might ask whether his supposed defensive mediocrity negates his great bat. But he had an fWAR of 5.2 last year, which confirms that the answer to that question is a resounding NO.
  7. JD managed an .867 OPS last year, and a 1.135 OPS in the postseason.
  8. I don't know, but I think a more meaningful question would be about increases from 2021 payroll for tax purposes. Right now we're up about 30 million over 2021.
  9. He does. He's the Doubting Thomas of Talksox.
  10. We could certainly use a nice surprise from the pitching farm this year.
  11. I think that's what they call "hope as a strategy", Nick.
  12. Can't forget there are 3 Wild Card teams this year, like 2020.
  13. You are definitely the board's MSP (Most Sardonic Poster).
  14. If you want a clean balance sheet, Bloom is definitely your guy!
  15. Larry, Talksox posters are familiar with Bradley's issues with the bat. He did hit .283 in the short 2020 season.
  16. There's no doubt that Bloom is looking ahead to beyond this year. What's a little scary is all the talent we stand to lose after 2022. We'll be shedding a lot of payroll along with them of course. Which seems to set up a wild off-season of spending next year. It's gonna be interesting to watch.
  17. Renfroe had a good year with the stick, no one is arguing that. For people who get hung up on RBI I like to point out these stats from the 2007 Red Sox: Pedroia .317 BA 50 RBI Lugo .237 BA 73 RBI
  18. Not caring about OPS goes beyond old school into crazy school.
  19. Schwarber put up a .435 OBP and .957 OPS for us in 41 regular season games. Can't expect much more than that.
  20. I would not have complained if they re-signed ERod, but he spent most of 2021 having abuse heaped on him here. And that was when he was only making 8.3 million.
  21. OK, but "Bloom got exposed" is a little over the top. We beat the Yankees and the Rays and had a great chance to beat the Stros.
  22. If Bloom can find one Pivetta, he can find others.
  23. That's kind of silly. Gausman has a career fWAR of 19.9. He has averaged about 3 fWAR per 175 innings.
  24. Our offense got shut down completely the last 3 games of the series.
