  1. Which prompted me to check Diekman's career splits: LH 652 RH 666 Pretty close.
  2. I'll be stunned if the Yanks don't at least spend up to the $230 M mark, Jax. It doesn't even seem possible.
  3. "Comments", sure. Some of us have suspended judgment on moves like the Renfroe-JBJ trade, though, while others have not.
  4. I judge him on the total net result. Some of his moves are going to turn out badly, that's a given. Nobody can be perfect when it comes to betting on how baseball players are going to perform.
  5. A fungible part though, I'm guessing.
  6. That was actually moon.
  7. It's been extraordinarily quiet on the Yankee front. Don't think it'll stay that way, though.
  8. "Cliff year" - you made that up, didn't you?
  9. I'm still on the "Bloom knows what he's doing" train, you'll have to settle for that LOL
  10. He said Davis. Can't be unsaid.
  11. I'm getting more and more out of touch.
  12. None of which is to say that Bloom hasn't done a fine job after coming into a tricky situation. I think he has.
  13. "Greatness"? To me that's an irrelevant term. A team that could make the playoffs and maybe get past the first round? Yes, I think a lot of people thought or hoped that much. What does "greatness" mean anymore when the last team to repeat was the 2000 Yanks?
  14. A lot of our 2018 core was still in place - Sale, E-Rod, Eovaldi, Bogey, Devers, JDM, Vazquez, Cora. My take is that virtually all teams are in constant flux now because of all the payroll issues etc.
  15. Mookie being traded was a shock, but it was actually the culmination of several years of uneasiness about his future with the team. The longer it went with no resolution, the more it seemed headed for a bad outcome for fans. And after 2018 the team basically told fans they'd like to keep Betts, Bogaerts and Sale, but it wasn't realistic.
  16. We are showing *robust interest* in Collin McHugh, man!
  17. Expectations for 2021 were uncertain, not necessarily low. I think notin's answer to all this was about right: the Red Sox have been rebuilding, just not at the MLB level… It was our farm that needed to be rebuilt.
  18. 2019 had absolutely nothing to do with a cliff. The cliff was .5 years.
  19. He got terminated, why I don't know. There was a good article about his scouting of Whitlock in the Globe.
  20. It was former Red Sox scout Bob Hamelin who did all the legwork on Whitlock, apparently. Nonetheless, Bloom gets credit for taking good advice.
  21. The Red Sox franchise has been on a wild roller coaster ride since about 2009. Singling out 2020 as the "cliff year" makes no sense. It was just one of the dips in the ride.
  22. Nah, it was just a joke by mvp, in response to Jax's premature thread titled 'Sox to sign Suzuki'.
