  1. OK. Little Raf's fWAR is at 1.7. That projects to about 4 for the season. So both systems have him way above average. I think he's showing he has the game to be the full time CFer going forward. But yeah, that's predicated on him being able to keep the OPS around .675-.700.
  2. Does bWAR mean anything? Rafaela's is now 2.4, on pace to be over 5.
  3. IMHO the issue was the new direction Henry wanted to go in, plain and simple.
  4. The unresolved question is exactly why Henry fired him. There were reports that they were not seeing eye to eye on the direction of the team, which to me suggests that Henry had revealed he wanted to cut payroll. We do know now that DD had talks with other teams about trading Mookie at the 2019 deadline, but they called it off when the Sox had a little good streak that raised hopes.
  5. Those were a while ago. Not sure he'd be up for doing that sort of thing again. He seems to have gotten exactly what he wanted with the Phillies.
  6. Is the talk about making Little Raf a super-sub on hold for the time being? 😀
  7. Of course. Firing DD and cutting payroll "went hand in hand". The only argument is that Henry should have done neither. You're not going to find anyone arguing that they should have kept DD and cut payroll. That's a contradiction in terms.
  8. This is why baseball is a weird game. They're 41-22, but people question if they're actually that good. Pythagoras says they should be (checks notes) 41-22.
  9. I think most of the blame for 2022-2024 has been assigned to ownership and the front office. This year might be different. If this team keeps sinking into the depths, they're going to have to make a move. Even Francona only had an 8 year tenure, and his record was considerably better than Cora's.
  10. There's a good chance the '25 Sox are actually worse than their record right now.
  11. Giolito was such a horrible signing. Between that and trading Sale for Grissom, Breslow really did some damage.
  12. Yeah, the interesting thing about the Monster is that it does not produce a surplus of home runs, but of course it produces a hefty surplus of doubles.
  13. He also said something about the Yanks possibly finishing under .500 IIRC.
  14. That seems to be kind of a fallacy. Williams, Yaz, Boggs, Papi all lefties who flourished. But our hitting from the right side is definitely pretty weak these days.
  15. This team looks to have to a good chance to end up worse than the 2022-2024 teams, and that part is a bit of a shock.
  16. Repeating myself here, but while I agree that advanced metrics are more important, leading MLB in errors after being a close second last year does seem like an issue.
  17. I already tried this line of reasoning LOL TYPM is really locked in here. Next thing he'll be telling us Cora was lazy even as a child...
  18. Totally sidestepping the point about playing careers. Not surprising.
  19. No, it's a very big deal. You're basically running him into the ground any which way you can. And Cora was a better major league player than Francona, so your parallel makes no sense at all.
  20. Removed Raffy, Story healthy, defense still terrible. Can't find much comfort anywhere in these facts.
  21. The point is you keep making a huge deal out of Cora being a mediocre middle infielder as a player.
  22. Unlike one-time ace Terry Francona, right? Maybe you hated him too
  23. Never too early to give up, huh?
