  1. Agree 100%. Feeling marginally more hopeful after the last 3 games, and that's it.
  2. Sure, Sale's original 3 years were great, although he actually started to sputter health-wise in Year 3. Thing is, we had to pay a very high price in talent to acquire those 3 years. And one of the players we gave up, Moncada, cost us $63 million, which isn't chicken feed either. I still say there's no rule to be followed. Every acquisition comes with its own costs and risks baked in.
  3. So Price is sucking. So is Sale, and he came by way of trade. Eovaldi was a free agent signing and he's been excellent. I don't think there's a consistent rule to be followed.
  4. So where's the "best place" then, exactly?
  5. I don't think there's been any report of one.
  6. As far as Thor is concerned, it's also possible the Angels sign him to an extension. They've got money too, as they periodically remind people.
  7. It must be said that Eo has been giving up a lot of dingers this year (resulting in a 4.54 FIP) when homers are generally down. So that's something to watch. His K/BB ratio continues to be outstanding.
  8. Syndergaard is another guy coming off TJ surgery. He's younger than Eo but he'll be past 30. Would you offer him more than Eo?
  9. $23-24 million, I think.
  10. I'm the one who voted for 4 years.
  11. Nor is ERod a great example of us "keeping on winning" without him...
  12. Which is about right for a #5 starter.
  13. Right. And who do they replace him with?
  14. He had a 2.6 bWAR last year. He was a bargain. Remains to be seen if he will be this year.
  15. Pivetta is making $2.65 million on a one year deal. You need some cheap labor somewhere.
  16. I think it's pretty clear they'd already decided Bogey was gone.
  17. They only calculate what the player is worth compared to all the other free agents.
  18. Have to be realistic though. There's no way they're paying Bogey, Devers and Story $20-30 million each.
  19. Nothing serious. The only serious time he has missed since 2018 is to clean up those damn "loose bodies".
  20. Every teams needs a 5th starter, too.
  21. He's become a bulldog type, who gives you at least 5 or 6 innings every time out.
  22. Why's that? Does Tommy John surgery have that bad of a track record? Are there no pitchers who have had long careers after it?
  23. Those Fangraphs dollar figures are actually a simple calculation. They figure out the average dollar cost of all free agents per WAR. If that number is $8 mill and the player has 3 WAR, the dollar value is $24 mill. It reflects the high price of free agents and the fact that a lot of them bust.
  24. Oddly enough Raffy does not have good numbers at YS - .674 OPS/45 K's/8 BB's.
