  1. The choice of words definitely needs an upgrade. The word that used to be popular was "passionate".
  2. I wouldn't, because as noted, Lopez is only 2 years of control, and 2023 doesn't look like a championship run.
  3. True that. My present obsession is signing Andrus, of course...
  4. It does seem like a recipe for disaster.
  5. Personally I think Boras is right. The Sox weren't really committed to keeping Bogey, largely because their focus was retaining Devers. And I understand that.
  6. Wasn't Plawecki a decent CERA guy?
  7. They can do whatever they want, honestly, it's not an important issue for me.
  8. Personally, I'm starting to regain some confidence in the Sox front office. Liked the Kluber signing, loved the Raffy extension, liked the Duvall signing. We're not punting and the future is looking up. Now sign Andrus or come up with a legit shortstop some other way...
  9. Quite frankly, 29 should keep him off the list altogether. Not that I care that much about it.
  10. Things are looking up in the youth movement, no question.
  11. Seems totally arbitrary. Do a bunch of guys vote and then they count up the votes? I don't know what the process is.
  12. Lucky he got a job at all.
  13. Seems to me like a sensible strategy for this year.
  14. About 6 mill.
  15. Incorrect number, though. They paid $1.2 mill but were over by $6 mill. Per Cot's: 2022: $1,229,936 tax on CBT payroll of $236,149,678 with $230M threshold and a rate of 20 percent as a first-time payor.
  16. Trading Pivetta would be madness IMO. We're going to need his innings.
  17. I don't think so.
  18. Only $1.2 mill? As my late father would say: "Cripes".
  19. Well, we've reached the stage of being a somewhat interesting mishmash, at least...
  20. Stopgaps to the kids. You will be seeing younger Red Sox teams pretty soon.
  21. Yes, that seems to be one of our specialties.
  22. Probably a perspicacious observation...
  23. When I was looking at Adam Duvall's B-R page I realized that the Braves had traded for him two separate times. I'm thinking there are not many players who fit into that category, being traded for by the same team twice. Doug Mirabelli is another one, of course.
  24. Did they do the same with Cuban signees like Jose Abreu?
