  1. True, but let's also be honest that Rick Porcello winning a CYA is one of the all-time outliers...
  2. Who knows, maybe they are plotting a Devers + Sale trade. Nothing would surprise me at this point.
  3. 2015 was the famous "Who's the Ace" year. Cherington got fired at the end of that one. The 2023 rotation looks even shakier.
  4. It still looks to me like we might be punting 2023. But with this FO it's hard to say anything with much certainty.
  5. It's pretty obvious Houck should be in the bullpen, but as we know, Bloom likes to try stuff!
  6. Yep, just one more thing to piss me off.
  7. The Crapshoot Factor has been MASSIVE the last 2 postseasons. The 2022 Phillies winning the pennant with a Pythagorean 87 wins instead of the Dodgers with a Pythagorean 116 wins was one of the all-time crapshoot results. You're a Crapshoot Denier.
  8. It was notin who had interest in Greinke. I'd take him at this point. But it looks like you just might get Mata.
  9. And if Kluber and Greinke sign in the next 4 days, it'll still be December, but every free agent pitcher any of us had in mind will be gone.
  10. Eovaldi to the Rangers. Down to Kluber and Greinke.
  11. Are the Red Sox the undisputed kings of the lowball offer? Is there any other team in MLB that has had so many lowball offers become public?
  12. Whatever you think of Bloom, you have to admit that we haven't seen stuff like this from the Red Sox for a long time, if ever. Making it public that they're after certain guys, and falling drastically short with their bids. The positive signs are the bullpen adds, and Yoshida. But the overall plan is still murky.
  13. Hopefully Bloom doesn't tell us later that his No. 1 starting pitcher priority was a guy that another team signed, with the reason of course being the price tag was too high. That would fall in line with what happened with the other top priorities of this offseason, Abreu and Bogaerts.
  14. So as it stands, we're going into the season with a nice combination of injury risk (Sale, Paxton), journeyman mediocrity (Pivetta), and inexperience (the rest).
  15. And reportedly, the Sox don't even have interest in Eovaldi... No rumors on any of the other possibilities, either, for that matter.
  16. I don't think anyone's crying over Hill, but I think we do need another starting pitcher for 2023, regardless of whether they're part of the core group going forward. I would say this is one of the rare occasions where at least 90% of us are in agreement. We need Kluber or Eovaldi or Greinke or a trade. Bloom basically promised a starting pitcher. He laid it on pretty thick, actually, with the "leadership, upside and innings" stuff.
  17. We can all think what we want, of course. The only evidence we're left with of wanting him back is Bloom's words.
  18. Goodbye to our 2022 team leader in pitching fWAR!
  19. Yes, it's the big picture. It's one thing after another that suggests they really have no clue what they're doing right now. They said they were going to compete while rebuilding, they did a good job of that in 2021, but 2022 was bad and 2023 is looking worse.
  20. Too honest about Bogey being their No. 1 priority, you mean?
  21. Many things are possible. Sure, we may end up glad we didn't retain Bogey. On the other hand, we may regret it deeply. We also may end up deeming the Story signing a disaster. Or the Yoshida signing. What's the point in posing a bunch of questions no one can answer?
  22. We'll never know if the Red Sox actually wanted to keep Bogaerts or not. One way or another, the team's credibility is shot.
  23. Brasier may end up as the Face of the Franchise. (Sorry. I know that's a very sick joke.)
  24. Correa? We'll be lucky if they make a serious offer to Andrus.
  25. If there's one thing Red Sox fans can count on in the midst of all this turmoil and negativity, it's Ryan Brasier.
