  1. So basically you're not going to be happy whether we sign them or let them go.
  2. a) Judge turns 31 in April. You really wanted to go higher than $360 million for him?
  3. What's the potential impact of a loss of $1 million? An unsigned pick?
  4. Boras really has his work cut out there...
  5. How much does that actually matter in real world terms - does it mean we'll have picks we can't sign?
  6. Some truly insane Red Sox fans will be following the careers of both Hoy Park and Inmer Lobo from here on out. (Yes, you're right. One might be me.)
  7. But MLBTR is making Park a star...
  8. You're talking about a half billion dollar contract as if it's reasonable. We probably are headed there, though. What's the limit? Has there ever been a growth industry like pro sports?
  9. Well, they don't call it a signing bonus for nothing. When you sign the paper you get the money.
  10. Mark my words - Devers's 2023 AAV will be 17.5 million. (It explains why the announcement of the arbitration settlement and the extension agreement came right on top of each other.)
  11. The Hoy Park saga just doesn't end.
  12. Yes, until we get Raffy's damn AAV clarified.
  13. But signing bonuses are always spread out over the deal for AAV purposes. I think the real clue is that they announced the arbitration settlement first, then the extension. That seems to indicate they wanted to set his 2023 AAV at the lower amount.
  14. A lot of narratives smashed in one fell swoop.
  15. You're right, it's confusing. I'm betting that the 2023 AAV is 17.5. I think the Sox would have set it up that way to give them more flexibility this year.
  16. No one should. Although when Henry was at the game he might have been wishing they wrapped the deal a week earlier.
  17. No, MLBTR says the AAV is 31.35, which would mean it starts in 2024 (313.5 / 10).
  18. I think his 2023 AAV is only 17.5 mill. But we'll see.
  19. No, I guess Werner is George.
  20. You know the drill on this. Some players won't negotiate once the season starts. What if you wait and the guy has a monster season and the price increases by a hefty amount - we've all seen that happen.
  21. But the doctors cleared it, and Sale pitched in 2019.
  22. You said "a total". Usually that means "combined".
  23. 5 Gloves's point is that this removes a lot of negativity and distractions for the 2023 team. Not to mention the possible loss of Devers via trade.
