  1. IN MLB every move is risky and plenty of non-moves are too.
  2. Yeah, I find it surprising how many fans start thinking about selling off so early now.
  3. The average line on the Sox right now is about -250. So you'd have to bet $250 to win $100.
  4. This is one case where it's too low, because it's impossible to quantify a value that includes the postseason. Just think of when Theo Epstein traded one of the top prospects in baseball, Gleyber Torres, for this same player.
  5. The Sox issue hasn't been a strength of competition issue. They're 9-3 against the Yankees and Rays. They just took 2 of 3 from Cincy and Cincy is an over .500 team. I'm feeling some optimism. But of course that can be crushed pretty quickly LOL
  6. There are some signs the team is coming around. This would be one more kick in the head to the fans IMO. All depends how they do the next few weeks.
  7. If they trade Chapman they have to go full sell mode, all expiring contracts.
  8. Trading Chapman would be waving the white flag on 2025, there's no way around that.
  9. I think we might be turning a corner for the better, Larry. We'll see.
  10. It would have taken some serious panning out. Downs wasn't even Bloom's first choice, he pivoted to Downs because they didn't like Graterol's medicals.
  11. Valid question, I will answer on behalf of AC: 1) Abreu's .678 is in only 41 PAs. For his career he's at .570. 2) The 2025 difference is not yet worth changing the current configuration of Duran in left and Abreu platooning in right. 3) If Abreu keeps doing better against lefties that could change.
  12. Plus they have Houck, Dobbins and maybe even Sandoval to come back. RP is definitely a must.
  13. That was indeed a hose job. I suspect that Henry had a lot to do with it. I think he held off the trade as long as possible to avoid hurting ticket sales, and he probably insisted on the Price dump.
  14. Anybody up for some delicious fresh-picked cherries? I hope so, because Trevor Story, in his last 24 games, has a .984 OPS, 6 HR and 25 RBI.
  15. Devers has stunk so far for the Giants. This was not the Mookie Betts trade.
  16. Seems like a fair chunk of them would be?
  17. Your post specifically said this adds immediate talent to put BOS in the race for a wild card spot. Now you're saying it's for next year. OK...
  18. Managers are always going to be second-guessed and worse. Cora takes plenty of heat, but he actually takes less than the man who was in the other dugout the last 3 games did when he was in Boston, Terry Coma.
  19. Cool. I like 60's music and love the Beatles but the real sweet spot for me was the 70's hard rock and prog rock. I like a lot of country rock too. Steve Earle and Joe Ely are two of my favorites in that dept.
  20. I agree with you, Cora absolutely did the right thing going for the win in the first game. Disappointing to blow the second one, but the Reds are a decent team this year and 2 out of 3 is a good result.
  21. No kidding. I'm almost 70 and I know there are a number here older than me. I guess it makes sense that old guys would have the kind of free time you need to spend hours on a baseball forum.
  22. The Yankees bullpen is struggling a wee bit.
  23. If the purpose of the trade for the Sox is to go for the playoffs, why would they bench Story for Campbell, is certainly the biggest head-scratcher here.
