  1. Fortunately, Tomase is the least talented baseball writer in any era.
  2. A 3 year hiatus is a 3 year hiatus. But anyway, those who stayed cool about Song sure look to be right. It was that damn Peter Abraham and my own innate Sox-related superstitious nature that made me fear leaving him unprotected in favor of Ort was a dreadful blunder.
  3. I think as of this moment Bloom is definitely on a shorter leash than DD. Bloom is in his 4th year and has finished last twice. Henry is not noted for patience, although hiring Bloom was a move that called for it. DD went to the 6th game of the WS last year, and his owner seems to be a free spender. They look like a match made in heaven, frankly.
  4. Unless his name is Cashman...
  5. The thing is, you can win 10 dice rolls but they might only add up to 2 wins. Whereas 1 dice roll you lose might cost you 3 wins.
  6. Henry has booted Theo, Ben and Dave in spite of 4 rings won and massive growth in franchise value. It's pretty hard to predict what he'll do at this point...
  7. Definitely feeling optimistic about Yoshida.
  8. The thing is a lot of these names just don't move the needle much one way or the other. The dice roll on Story is looking like a significant losing bet for both 2022 and 2023.
  9. I thought I was too. But I'm totally befuddled at this point. I have a bad feeling that Chaim is taking a whole lot of chances and hoping they work out...
  10. That may vary on a daily basis.
  11. That's fair. I think I've just had kind of a personal epiphany where I don't feel the need to be rational about Chaim Bloom's Red Sox any more.
  12. It just so happens that I'm the other guy here who is fascinated by CERA. Your points are well taken. I'm just feeling pessimistic about the 2023 team right now, and whether it's rational or not, the fact we didn't allow less than 4 runs in any of our last 10 games has something to do with that. If McGuire isn't the guy, we have a serious issue on our hands.
  13. OK, that was funny.
  14. My warm and fuzzies about this team were gradually dissipated by the horrendous finish to the spring games. 65 runs allowed in 10 games is very bad, exhibition games or not.
  15. Vaz was not a star, but a fairly solid player. The question is whether McGuire is a valid replacement. He's our #1 catcher now, and he had a 6.33 CERA with us last year, and our pitching was atrocious the last few weeks of ST, so I'm a little nervous about that.
  16. It's not about excitement about individual players or lack thereof. For the 2023 Red Sox and Chaim Bloom it's going to be all about the W-L record. Most projections have us as a .500 team, which would clearly be unacceptable for Chaim's 4th season with the team, especially after he finally got some payroll room opened up.
  17. We signed Adam Dunn to play CF?
  18. Now now, no hiding Houck's ugly numbers.
  19. For now Story is only a potential albatross.
  20. Counting today we've given up 63 runs in the last 10 games. And the fewest given up in any game is 4.
  21. Our pitching has been dreadful for weeks now.
  22. Seems like they are really having some fun with it!
  23. Yep, just like Ben didn't listen to mvp about Pedroia.
  24. His was a very unusual case.
