  1. There are some signs the team is coming around. This would be one more kick in the head to the fans IMO. All depends how they do the next few weeks.
  2. If they trade Chapman they have to go full sell mode, all expiring contracts.
  3. Trading Chapman would be waving the white flag on 2025, there's no way around that.
  4. I think we might be turning a corner for the better, Larry. We'll see.
  5. It would have taken some serious panning out. Downs wasn't even Bloom's first choice, he pivoted to Downs because they didn't like Graterol's medicals.
  6. Valid question, I will answer on behalf of AC: 1) Abreu's .678 is in only 41 PAs. For his career he's at .570. 2) The 2025 difference is not yet worth changing the current configuration of Duran in left and Abreu platooning in right. 3) If Abreu keeps doing better against lefties that could change.
  7. Plus they have Houck, Dobbins and maybe even Sandoval to come back. RP is definitely a must.
  8. That was indeed a hose job. I suspect that Henry had a lot to do with it. I think he held off the trade as long as possible to avoid hurting ticket sales, and he probably insisted on the Price dump.
  9. Anybody up for some delicious fresh-picked cherries? I hope so, because Trevor Story, in his last 24 games, has a .984 OPS, 6 HR and 25 RBI.
  10. Devers has stunk so far for the Giants. This was not the Mookie Betts trade.
  11. Seems like a fair chunk of them would be?
  12. Your post specifically said this adds immediate talent to put BOS in the race for a wild card spot. Now you're saying it's for next year. OK...
  13. Managers are always going to be second-guessed and worse. Cora takes plenty of heat, but he actually takes less than the man who was in the other dugout the last 3 games did when he was in Boston, Terry Coma.
  14. Cool. I like 60's music and love the Beatles but the real sweet spot for me was the 70's hard rock and prog rock. I like a lot of country rock too. Steve Earle and Joe Ely are two of my favorites in that dept.
  15. I agree with you, Cora absolutely did the right thing going for the win in the first game. Disappointing to blow the second one, but the Reds are a decent team this year and 2 out of 3 is a good result.
  16. No kidding. I'm almost 70 and I know there are a number here older than me. I guess it makes sense that old guys would have the kind of free time you need to spend hours on a baseball forum.
  17. The Yankees bullpen is struggling a wee bit.
  18. If the purpose of the trade for the Sox is to go for the playoffs, why would they bench Story for Campbell, is certainly the biggest head-scratcher here.
  19. That seems like a dubious reason. With the balanced schedule these guys are all seeing different arms all the time.
  20. Yes, we all have our personal responses. Devers really turned me against him this spring and made me worry about the future of his contract. I honestly feel relieved about it. Obviously it's up to the team to reinvest the money, but I don't see much point worrying about that. They forked out for Crochet and Bregman, they signed 3 extensions with the kids, they paid Cora. They're clearly doing better in that department.
  21. Most sports fans are a bunch of hypocrites with 20/20 hindsight. If Mookie Betts had a career-ending injury in 2020, people would be talking about how we got away with one. I've tried to explain my position about the Sale trade a million times (I would have been OK with it if we did more than sign Giolito) but it often gets interpreted as me saying they should have known Sale would do great in 2024.
  22. Yes, my experience with Chicago was the same. I can't really fault these artists for going commercial. When it comes down to do it they have to make a living.
  23. None of those %s mean much. The Sox are 2.5 games out a Wild Card spot with 76 games left. That's far from out of it. If you want to say it's a 20% chance, that's reasonable. It's not winning the lottery odds, more like winning money at the casino odds.
  24. B-R has 30.2%.
  25. I'm glad he's gone too. There was a cloud hanging over him from the get-go this year. And it's definitely exciting to see Anthony and Mayer starting to pick up some hits.
