  1. No, it is better. The stats show it.
  2. What did Cora actually say though? Did he say Kike will never play the position again, or that he is no longer the regular?
  3. Yes. Because the other factor is that postseason offensive numbers are lower, because the pitching is better, due to the off days largely eliminating back end starters and back end relievers.
  4. The Bellhorn Clutch Metric uses only postseason numbers vs. regular season numbers. It simplifies things tremendously. Because there are very few regular season games that are huge games, whereas almost every postseason game is a huge game.
  5. The only possible explanation I can offer is that Chang is coming off an injury and they're easing him back in. That's all I've got.
  6. That's fair. I'm just saying that "yips" and "choke" are in the same family...ugly little half-brothers.
  7. In my opinion the playing guys out of position thing comes more from Bloom's roster construction. A lot of injuries also contributed to Kike playing short this year. But Bloom could have headed that off by signing Andrus or Iglesias. But I certainly get the criticism that Cora has gone too long with Kike at short. And it's natural to suspect that he's doing it because he and Kike are close. Bloom could end the whole thing by DFA'ing Kike. He's the one who has the ultimate say on these things.
  8. Hey, if players can get the yips, doesn't that kind of prove players can choke? There's arguably a very fine line between the two. They're both about the brain affecting the body.
  9. Now that's f***ing ********. No way Chaim Bloom brings the guy back if he's a bad teammate. Showing a little individuality in your appearance doesn't make you a bad teammate. The guy is playing bad and probably should be DFAd, but there's no need to trash him.
  10. In his last 13 games, Mookie Betts has 23 hits, including 8 homers and 8 doubles, and 14 walks. That's insane!
  11. Turner wasn't at second base to keep everybody happy. It's the one way to get every good bat in the lineup.
  12. Probably time for Bloom to DFA Kike.
  13. We're on a great run, man. I did not expect to sweep the Jays. I did not expect to take 2 of 3 from Texas, and I was pretty sure we'd lose when Eovaldi pitched. I was also concerned about the A's series because of our pattern of playing down to the competition. Maybe Cora is doing something right.
  14. How the hell would any of us know he's soft mentally? If anyone here has pitched in major league baseball, their opinion might count. Don't take that as an attack, I'm just talking in general terms, about the way we all talk about players. Like I said, it's easy to judge here in the armchair.
  15. Yep. Comes with the territory, and none are exempt. And we're always right, here in our armchairs.
  16. Barnes is a very forgivable mistake by Bloom. Not that much money in relative terms. And his demise was not really predictable.
  17. That's all true though. There has never been a last-place team over .500 since they went to 5 team divisions. Right now last place in the ALE is 6 games over. It's all just random s***, basically.
  18. Don't the sub 200 hitters indicate that the pitchers are better now? Pitchers throw harder and with more spin. Baseball is a zero sum game. Better pitching makes for worse hitting and vice versa. Plus you have guys like Schwarber who can be under 200 but still a weapon because of all the walks and the power.
  19. Maybe it'll be twice after this year. I think his average is at least trending up.
  20. El Skankos in Colorado tonight. Cashman just fired their hitting coach and brought in one-year Sox player Sean Casey. Much discontent there with Boone, Cashman and Hal.
  21. His coffee is almost as good as Ben's.
  22. He smiles too much.
  23. Money-wise, it would be like 4 Chris Sales.
  24. No one is saying Judge isn't a monster talent. But he has a significant injury history. Can't hit any homers from the IL. Devers is not much of a team guy? Where does that come from?
