  1. Agreed. He's a keeper. The team's erratic play is making us think crazy things.
  2. Betts AAV vs. FanGraphs Dollar Values: 2021 29 30.8 2022 29 52.3 2023 (pro-rated for 120 team games) 21.5 48.9 Totals 79.5 132 Surplus value to date 52.5
  3. But Hugh, we can also cherry-pick Sox players who have had lousy returns on the money the last few years. For example, what if we compare 2023 Betts 29 AAV to 2023 Story and Kluber 33.33 AAV?
  4. Have to give him credit for the accurate Lennon quote, though.
  5. Betts is at .295 with 31 HR.
  6. Mookie is playing like God right now. It was a grotesque blunder by JH.
  7. If we're going to factor in the unloaded part, Price's total net cost was 156 mill (217-31-15-15). That's practically only Trevor Story money!
  8. Great question, better posed to JH. As you know the dark side says the Raffy extension only happened because of the uproar in the Nation at the time.
  9. Crawford 142 Pablo 95 Hanley 88 Rusney 73 Total 398 Price 217
  10. C'mon man. He wasn't exposed to Crawford, Pablo, Hanley and Rusney? Price at least contributed to a championship. The 4 above did less than zero. Plus of course he just inked Raffy for Mookie money. No sale!
  11. Mookie Betts last 39 games: 378/478/729 - 1207 OPS RIDICULOUS 57 hits 29 walks 23 K's Must be one of the hottest stretches in MLB history. Thanks, JH.
  12. We need someone like Mookie Betts, who can hit, hit for power, is a great fielder, great arm, great baserunner. Guys like that are hard to find, though. Plus only big market teams can afford to keep them.
  13. Wow, Max, you just vaulted into the position of Most Negative Talksox Poster, Non-MAD STORK Division.
  14. I think the bats are just in one of those temporary slides that will end soon. It's not like we have guys out with injuries.
  15. So now you won't give it a rest!
  16. Oh I get it. Maybe we've just run into a stretch of really good pitching.
  17. MLB average runs per game = 4.58 Red Sox average 4.82 runs scored 4.60 runs allowed Runs scored by month: Apr 5.62 May 4.69 Jun 4.18 Jul 5.39 Aug 3.71
  18. Spotrac shows over $17 mill on the table, but I don't really trust their numbers. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/boston-red-sox//payroll
  19. It's a stunner, man. Just imagine if he was with the Sox.
  20. Maybe they have a different number than what Cot's is showing. I have no idea. There were some rumors, apparently, that ownership was disappointed by the deadline inactivity.
  21. Yeah, it's like putting in on a lot of work on a jigsaw puzzle, and then walking away with the last couple of pieces missing.
