  1. Losing Betts is 100% on ownership IMHO. I'm sure Dombrowski would have offered him whatever it took. And Bloom was the guy who was tasked with the trade.
  2. Maybe. OTOH it's August 6 and we really need this game. Verdugo has been benched twice now and has been publicly shamed. If that's not enough for him he should just quit playing.
  3. It's a legit opinion. I like Devers and am glad to have him, but they blew it spectacularly by not retaining a much better player in Betts.
  4. SoxProspects says: Was regarded as a potential late-first/early-second-round talent but for his service requirement as a pending graduate of the Naval Academy.
  5. Hey, without rumors, what would we have? The one thing we know is, he did squat LOL
  6. I certainly have no explanation. Is it lack of coaching, stupid players, both?
  7. Doesn't seem like there's much purpose to keeping Hamilton.
  8. From what we've learned, Bloom was trying to sell more than trying to buy. He came close to trading Turner, apparently.
  9. Poor John, huh? I guess he'll have to console himself with the team's $4.5 billion market value.
  10. Yeah, I think they're playing kind of a dangerous game. They could easily have tried a little harder this year without destroying the future.
  11. You can never really write off the Yankees until they're mathematically eliminated. They have a way of bouncing back when you least expect it. Based on all the negative stuff around the Yanks you might have thought Houston would be having their way in this series.
  12. I think that Henry has decided to let Bloom implement a Five Year Plan. I have my reservations about it too. Because what happens if next year, Year Five, isn't great either?
  13. I can only agree.
  14. We know that Cora is a player's manager and we know that he's absolutely furious at Verdugo and has made that public. So he's not a total pushover.
  15. I just can't get that deep into the credit-giving thing, although I respect that you do. Did Epstein hand-pick Bogaerts? Did Ben hand-pick Devers? I have no idea. I've always just given them credit.
  16. I thought you were a Dave hater. Said he got rid of the best and brightest scouts etc.
  17. Reese McGuire isn't a rookie. I think that one is on him.
  18. Or they are what you might call "all in on kicking the can down the road a bit further"...it's sort of a re-branding of "wait till next year".
  19. Pretty simple. Only Baseball Nerds would know the name of Ryan Zeferjahn, whereas many Average Fans knew the name of Noah Song, the kid from Navy drafted by the Sox who couldn't play until the Navy released him. And of course the fact it was DD who took Song made it a potentially juicy story.
  20. Not sure it's a great thing that these stories come out after the deadline. I think Bloom also said he dangled Paxton and Duvall but didn't match up with anyone. It all adds to the perception that the front office has little hope for the 2023 team.
  21. I'd say we're at the beating a dead horse stage on Kike now.
  22. So you're asking why was Arroyo DFAd instead of Reyes. Which would make my answer null and void.
  23. OK, now I am up to speed on the Songster.
  24. Because Bloom has had hopes for Arroyo for several years. Those hopes have finally been extinguished.
  25. Yes, the amount of time he's spent on the IL seems to clinch it.
