    I don't think Henry fired DD because of the 2019 season. I think he just wanted to "go in another direction" as they often say when guys get fired. This time I think it was the truth. Plus there were stories about DD kind of walling himself off with his old buddies like LaRussa, and not communicating well. The Red Sox have had a lot of success in the Henry years, with 4 titles, and yet we're on our 4th CBO. It does say something about Henry's style.

    Bloom probably isn't quite done with 1 year deals for veterans like Turner and Duvall. Which were both good moves.

    We've had 3 great nosedives since 2012. 2011-2012 90 to 69 23.3% 2013-2014 97 to 71 26.8% 2018-2019 108 to 84 22.2%

    We lost 2 out of 3 in Oakland, so sweeping hapless teams in their parks is not our forte.

    Here we go. I think technically he's correct. Bloom was hired before the end of the 2019 World Series.

    That could be difficult with the state of our rotation.

    We may not know everything, but I don't think it's a total mystery. The team's public statements about trying to rebuild and compete at the same time were actually honest statements, I believe. If they weren't trying to compete they wouldn't have made signings like Jansen and Martin. To me the real question, and it's one we've talked about before, is whether Bloom is actually competent at constructing a major league roster.

    We know that Henry has no problems pulling the plug on his CBO's. And what other explanation could there be for jettisoning Cherington than the last place finishes? IMHO there is no way Henry is liking the results he's seeing. This is all about his patience.
