  1. You'll see one for sure.
  2. Duran is different because he is now officially a malcontent liability.
  3. Won't get much, but yes.
  4. Sounds like Duran needs to be gone. Up to Brez to pull the trigger.
  5. You're right, we are hitting lefties much better than righties. I think the idea we needed a righty bat developed earlier in the season when Durbin was struggling so badly.
  6. And nobody is really writing them off. Pessimism as a form of copium.
  7. Duran is rewarding my Polly stance again today. 😄
  8. Somebody posted that Breslow already said Mead will be playing 2B. Durbin is short but he's an outstanding third baseman.
  9. Agreed, but the trio of Anthony, Mayer and Campbell have given some ammo to the "prospects are suspects" contingent so far.
  10. My inner Pollyanna says: He's 2 for his last 2, and both hits led to runs. Also, both hits were to the opposite field.
  11. If Duran starts hitting again everyone will shut up. It's the tale as old as time. The bottom line is Breslow/Tracy obviously think they should keep plugging him in the lineup and hope he turns it around. I'm sure they're looking hard at his mechanics and trying to figure out what the issue is.
  12. I meant the two years combined.
  13. I finally learned the only solution is to put him on ignore. Otherwise you waste a lot of your precious time engaging in these futile back-and-forths that he is obviously the only one who enjoys.
  14. Plus it's not necessarily the recommended move for one of your best hitters to do anything but swing away in that particular situation.
  15. He was the team's best player for the years 2024-2025.
  16. Another Weaver story, but this one comes from Jim Palmer. Palmer said Weaver's idea of a mound conference was yelling at him "Hey, are you f**king trying?"
  17. Yeah, just ask Spaceman. Lee swears he was blackballed out of the game for it, I suspect that's the truth.
  18. I noticed some of the humorists on SoSH had a running joke about his mustache and Tolle's mustache, with references to young Joseph Stalin.
  19. Earl Weaver said his job was to make up the lineup card and get out of the way. He also said his job was to not screw up all the wonderful work the front office had done the winter before. I don't think he fully believed these things, but they were good lines.
  20. The impact of the manager is the most intangible of intangibles. But I do think Tracy has to be doing some stuff right for the team to turn it around the way it has.
  21. Now we need a Tracy equivalent...but the Tr is a challenge. First thing I thought of was Tracy Triumph, but quickly realized it's pretty bad.
  22. Agreed, but we did have one or two people (JoeB for sure) pointing out that our Pythagorean record was better than the actual record and that Breslow's offseason moves were actually pluses, and that it was weird that this wasn't translating to wins.
  23. The fact that Tracy decided to make Yoshida a platoon DH and just leave him in that spot all season may be indicative of his smarts as a manager.
  24. Crazy game though. In 2004 the Sox played .500 ball for about a 3 month stretch, which infamously led to Shaughnessy calling them "frauds".
