Well, he's just going to have to deal with it. Dombrowski didn't replace Farrell until Year 3. Bloom re-hired Cora. It's not unprecedented to be working with the same manager as the previous guy.

Frankly I thought when 8 teams got in it was fine. And they could have bumped that to all 7 game series. The new system with 12 teams getting in obviously magnifies the crapshootery.

No CBO is ever fully in charge of their situation. None of them have a "no-fire" clause in their contracts.

It doesn't much matter who gets blamed. It matters who's still employed and who gets fired. Bloom got fired. His opinion no longer matters.

Well, I'm sure they're interviewing or trying to interview. But the situation is what it is. Like I say, the real decision-makers here are the owners.

We don't need a damn genius for the job. What we really need is some clear freakin' direction from Henry and Werner. Are we gonna spend this offseason or not? Are we gonna go balls to the wall to sign Yamamoto or Nola or Snell plus another good starter or not? Without the answers to those questions, it doesn't matter who's wearing the CBO hat.

Brasier's renaissance this year after going to the Dodgers was displeasing. That can't have helped Dave Bush's chances of staying.

In the hypothetical scenario of DD staying, he would be allowed to spend more than Bloom was, of course. In this hypothetical scenario, it's Henry's thinking and decision-making that's different. Everything else flows from that.

Quite the arbitrary distinction as to what constitutes the "distant" past. But maybe you are joking. It's hard to tell.

The Red Sox did get disciplined for improper use of the video room in 2018. Much less sophisticated than the Astros' system, and I believe it was confirmed that it only happened in the regular season, unlike with the Astros.
