I'm starting to buy into the idea that Henry's focus on the Sox isn't what it used to be. But the Sox are still a massively valuable asset, and I don't think Henry has lost sight of that. I'm quite sure that back-to-back losing seasons played a big part in Chaim Bloom being shown the door.

Good point. The stories that have come out suggest that the new Sox CBO will just be a placeholder for AC... The Sox are just hilariously inept at this stuff these days.

There sure are a lot of qualified people who don't seem to appreciate the opportunity that's being presented! Sam's blustery bravado is not aging well. A clear message has been delivered by a pretty large number of declining candidates. Henry has richly earned this mistrust.

Cora has one year left on his managerial contract and has said he plans to manage next year. Everyone is now operating on that assumption. It would make them look even more scattered if they give him a different job for 2024 from manager, IMHO. Plus, Grumpy Bill is not making the GM/coach thing look very good to New Englanders these days.

But on a serious note, setting the money aside, does any rational being want to go through what Bloom went through? Your boss is an impatient, mercurial prick, and the customers are demanding and crazy.

Those Orioles teams of 1969-70-71 were powerful teams. But they only won 1 out of 3 WS's. Similar to the A's of 1988-89-90. Like the O's they won in the middle year. So many odd parallels in baseball history.
