  1. There's one common denominator...
  2. It's a Sale trade, that ya just didn't take...
  3. It's just funny or ironic or whatever that we're in such a similar place to where we were when they hired DD. Good pieces and good prospects, hardly any starting pitching. Who's gonna be the new DD?
  4. No way in hell they're moving him to 1B right now.
  5. Sounds like cake!
  6. Funny how that happens with positions that are supposedly so easy to fill.
  7. What was the Sale Price on that gel?
  8. But then we have to also consider why Dombrowski was fired.
  9. Just trying to find a faint flicker of optimism in the final stages of this Bataan Death March. Thank you for snuffing that out.
  10. Casas is apparently out for the season with shoulder inflammation, and Turner isn't 100% either. It's a chance for Dalbec to show something.
  11. The elephant in the room is that the top starting pitchers are going to have plenty of bidders. Big contracts and big risk. Does Henry want to do another 180 on his "philosophy" now?
  12. Once it was established that Yoshida is a pricey DH, then his comps become David Ortiz and J. D. Martinez. That's part of what I've been saying.
  13. You are correct, sir.
  14. moon, his fWAR now stands at 0.4. Maybe your argument should be with FanGraphs, not me.
  15. Again, my criticism has been mainly directed at Bloom for the signing, in an offseason when we desperately need pitching rather than 2 DH's.
  16. After all I've said, it would be a cop-out to assign any blame to either. If I had a gun to my head, I'd flip a coin. I do find the idea that DD of all people wasn't willing to offer a superstar a ton of money more comical than anything. And it's stupid to blame Bloom too. The guy was hired just as Betts was entering his contract year, just as the team had luxury tax problems...pretty easy to connect the dots. According to Mookie Betts, the Red Sox offer was not $300 million. It seems pretty obvious that this was all the work of John Henry, AKA Lowball Johnny. Henry treated Betts the same way he treated Lester and Bogaerts.
  17. There's a theory that all the empty seats for the Yankee series and reports of tickets being re-sold for peanuts was the final straw. That was when Henry realized fans were actually starting to vote with their feet.
  18. Unfortunately the criticism has turned out to be fully justified, for this year at least.
  19. It appears Chaim was a ditherer.
  20. Did ya happen to notice how Boone made out against Cora in the 2018 ALDS and 2021 Wild Card games? Did Aaron motivate and morale boost his boys to victory when it really counted?
  21. Yeah, with what we know now, trading Sale would have been the right move. I can see why Bloom would have thought maybe Sale still had something left though. In any case, Bloom's failure to spend on the rotation will always baffle me. Did he not realize his job might depend on it?
  22. DD did sign a Turner.
  23. Yeah, but the front office keeps saying the idea was to compete while rebuilding. Trading Sale in 2022 would have been strictly a payroll-shedding, rebuilding move. Kind of seems like Bloom was screwed whatever he did.
